I think that is good for NASCAR. It now allows the manufacturers more play room to design a more aerodynamic car creating more competition within the sport.

I don't know. What can they do? That's way over my head. I'm just relaying what they were saying and what caused the Jr. incident.

Nascar wanted the car makes to be unique and look more like the street version. But this is causing issues with two different makes drafting. What do you do about that without changing the bodies?

I personally hate the plate races. It's better than no racing at all but I much prefer the non plate tracks.

We'll settle this with a good dust up.

You're probably right long term. But what do you do about the race next month to avoid seeing most of the cars either in the wall or simply playing follow the leader because they're too concerned with getting too close to the next guy in line?

Probably mandate more spoiler to give them more stability to steer out of a problem. That's the most they can do at this point unless they choose to adjust the entire templates of the cars, which I doubt they will do at this point. That would require wind tunnel testing, engineering and track testing. I think that ship has sailed for this season.

Have you been to Daytona before?

Plate racing used to be very fun to watch but that ended about the time Jr's dominance at Talladega ended.

As you posted previously the racing in general has been lacking with the new car. Nascar has to know it and know that it has affected fans interest. I used to watch every race religiously. I had tickets for Daytona in Feb. for Speedweek and in July for the summer race. The combination of the economy affecting my business, having 2 kids, and the racing not being as good made it tolerable for me to give up my tickets. Tickets are plentiful and easy to get now so there is no need to spend all the $$$ renewing tickets every year.

I hope the racing is better this year.

You have to go at least once. Better to go in Feb. than the summer race.

I like Daytona the best of the tracks I've been to. Charlotte is great but I like Daytona better.

If you go sit in the Earnhardt, Petty, or Sprint Tower. Any place else is a waste of money IMO. I actually prefer the Petty Tower to the Earnhardt Tower. In Petty Tower you are right where the cars come off of pit road as they exit. You also get the cars coming at you as they come thru the front stretch. In the Earnhardt Tower you get to see them going away from you once they go by. Personally, I like them coming at me better. Sprint Tower is good too. All 3 are good. You are up high so you can see the entire track. You get a great view of the backstretch as well. All the other seats/sections are lower and you dont get a great view of the backstretch.

Are there any suites there to be had?

It's not just the car that has ruined the sport - it's the cookie cutter tracks.

I resorted to joining fantasy NASCAR leagues because I couldn't watch half the races just for the sake of watching the race(s)....Regardless, the sport is a mere shell of its old self and the reasons are a plenty......

Carry on....

Agreed.

I watch the start of the season and then lose interest once baseball starts.

Yes, most of the mile and a half tracks arent exciting to watch races on.

IMO, the Chase sucks and has ruined things - although it was pretty good when Stewart beat Edwards.

The sport has seemed to get progressively worse since Earnhardt was killed. Now we have wusses like Jeffie and Jimmie or jerks like Kyle or our present champion.and they are the new norm.

I can't wait for Charlotte week. We have a suite for the All Star Race.

NASCAR should move the all-star race. If it is going to continue with The Chase......then have the regular season, give two weeks off.....during the first week have the All-Star race (drivers who won a race, made the chase, or were top 20 in money earned. Then, give all the drivers a week off to get ready for The Chase.

So it can become like the Pro Bowl? Nah, I like it the way it is.

It makes no sense being where it is.....in the first quarter of the season.

Also, it wont be like the pro bowl. unlike the probowl, all the stars can actually be in the race, barring injury or suspension....and since drivers are rarely injured to the point where they miss races, they should all be there.

btw, one other idea I had.....do like baseball does and have the race close to the 4th of July.
