I like Church but we need to remember the injury and not count on him like a guarantee.

We need trenches and safeties.

Agree.

Lack of athletic ability is not one of Sensabaugh's problems. He is only 29 and his combine numbers were in the Freak athlete range. His agility and explosiveness measureables were better than many Cornerbacks. He has one of the best Verts ever at the combine.

You can definitely question his mental/instincts and physicality, but not his athleticism.

Is Matt Johnson a free safety? What are his combine numbers compared to an earl Thomas?

Don't forget McCray, too.

Yep, hurt in college and then can even make it out of the trainers room his rookie year. To count on him is a reach.

Sensabaugh rarely got targeted this year because he played a traditional FS role where McCray and the other guys played more in the box and got routinely abused.

We need safety depth, but I wouldn't be opposed to finding someone better than Sensabaugh either.
"It's little bit like the description of pornography from years back. It's hard to define it. But you know what it is at the end of it. It's hard to define it. I think you know who is more physical. Often times you see that in the fourth quarter. A lot of time the team on the other side feels it. We pride ourselves on being a physical football team. It's important to us. It's an important time of the year to lay that foundation." - Coach Garrett

We've been in that mode for about 8 years. It's about time we really do something about it.

Easy fix is L Landry, I believe he is a FA and would work well in Tampa 2 and one would really think about a crossing route.

He will be 30 next season.

And as for athletic ability, this isn't the CB position where those measurables mean alot more and can decide his worth. Those instincts and physciality that you bring up are main components of a safety, along with his athletic ability.

I don't care if he can jump over a car if he doesn't want to tackle aggressively or lead this D.
