That does not happen in Dallas.

We have it directly from Kubiak's mouth that these changes occured after he personally met with McNair, not Rick Smith. McNair said he had scheduled a meeting with Wade, not Rick Smith. Rick Smith was teetering on the verge of being canned himself, and probably would have been thrown out with Kubiak if Kubiak didn't agree to the changes. Keep believing in your little make believe world.

Despite labeling myself a "realist", no one understands my pain or appreciates my special truth. Stupid world.

So you're agreeing with me that we are the only organization where the GM doesn't have to answer to anyone for their poor decisions?

What are you talking about? Was Garrett not hired as OC be fore Wade? Is Jerry not flying around the country chasing Monte Kiffen?

Yes it is really that simple!!!
Not that easy when you bring in Jason Garretts remaining 2year guaranteed contract at 4.5mil a year.....Jerry would have to give him 9mil to go away.(not gonna happen)....that or make it very uncomfortable for Garrett until he leaves on his own free will...

I was thinking more along the lines of:

Jerry: "Hey Jason, next year we need someone else to call plays."

Jason: "Okay, if you get someone else to make personnel decisions."

Jerry: "YOU'RE fired."

Fixed it for you...

These Houston Texans and Dallas Cowboys comparisons are pretty stupid. It may actually have proven a point if the Texans were perennial winners.

Default PFT: Florio Trouble in Dallas?

Mort: Jones is pushing Garrett to give up play-calling duties

Posted by Mike Florio on January 12, 2013, 12:06 PM EST

Changes have indeed come to Valley Ranch.

Apart from the departure of defensive coordinator Rob Ryan and the change in philosophy from 3-4 to 4-3 with the arrival of Monte Kiffin, more seismic shifts are possible.

According to Chris Mortensen of ESPN, owner Jerry Jones is pushing coach Jason Garrett to relinquish play-calling duties. Per Mort, Jones also may be trying to get Garrett to fire his brother, tight ends coach John Garrett.

Basically this guy needed to put out a story so he stole Mort's.

Nothing new here.

Until Jerry "Al Davis" Jones relinquishes control, Cowboy fans are doomed to 6-8 win seasons. Always looking for band-aids, but never willing to commit to do what it takes to build a champion.

I said this in another thread but feel it may be more pertinent here.

Jerry has little resolve, IMO, and goes wherever the wind blows him, so instead of letting long-term solutions develop, he always tries to go with the quick fix.

Since he's taken over the team, we average a new HC every 3.28 years, and as a result philosophies, cultures and identities change just as often.

College coaches usually get longer opportunities, so it's no wonder we've done squat since '95.

There's rarely continuity, and by the time our "GM" gets up to speed on the coach's direction (drafting players to fit his scheme [resulting in a lot of misses], getting his coaches, etc) our GM loses faith and does an about-face and starts the cycle all over again.

Now? He's panicing because his arch-enemy Lil' Danny beat us to make the playoffs, and now teams like Washington, Seattle and SF are making noise with the read option.

Trust me, if he fires Garrett (which after 3 years would be right on cue), Jerry will certainly go in the direction of the new fad (Read option) only to have him chase another fad after that.
