NO sorry but your wrong. Bryant is the SDE. You should go look up their depth chart or watch game.

Bryant is a DE.
And Irvin is a backup (CLemons backup if I'm not mistaken).

If he has the body lean and bend to get around the edge, I'm sure the job is his to lose, and if he does indeed have that ability you will see this staff definitely let Spencer walk.
Either way we will still need to address the DE position this offseason, as Ware, Spencer (if here) and Crawford are really our only options for the position at the moment, and that just can't happen at a premium position that is probably the most important on any defense.

I just think Crawford has more of a DE body than DT. I think he may be pretty good out on the edge getting to the QB.
It'll be interesting to see what happens with him. Maybe they resign Spencer and do play him at DT.

We'll settle this with a good dust up.

IMO Crawford is going to be starting in 2013. Guy has the perfect size and skill set to be the type of strong side DE for Kiffins defense. I think Dallas has to start him in 2013 and see if he is an answer along the DL. Sign a vet FA to a one yr deal and let him push Crawford and have him as insurance. If Crawford isnt then you go into 2014 with that as ur top priority.
Ratliff and Hatcher will be starting in 2013. Unless Ratliff is released which now i dont really see that happening. Im sure Dallas will draft a DT but IMO one isnt needed in the top of the draft. a 3rd or 4th round pick will suffice for this yr.
Safety IMO is the biggest need after OL. 1st round OL and then in round 2 it should be safety.
LBer and Cornerback are locked up and i have no worries.

Well, granted those team measurables aren't always reliable. I do think he has the frame to carry plenty of weight to be a legit strong side DE in our new scheme. I don't think he's undersized at all for it. I was assuming he'd actually have to lose a little weight maybe to play on the edge.

That had more to do with the LBers crop and Bob always being injured then it did with the DE's, IMO.

I wouldn't be surprised if Wilber starts either. This new scheme is better for him, IMO.

The size of his De's at usc should give us a idea of the size of de's he like. But then again you have to go by talent

I think we have to stay big on defense. At least in the front 7.
I don't think an undersized cover 2 defense stands a chance at stopping San Fran or even Washington.
We just need to run it like Seattle is doing.

So I'm assuming you mean Wilber starting at SLB? I didn't have much of an impression of him this year, but does he have the coverage skills for a LB in Kiffin's defense?
If he and Crawford could be solid starters at those two positions, that'd be a huge bonus.

We just need someone that looks about like Greg Ellis.
Okafor from Texas seems like a good fit.

Yeah its really up in the air with him, he might be able to play either spot. Also, I'm not saying he can't be good out on the edge, its just an ability that he has to show to the staff that he can do it on at this level cause this ain't Boise St. anymore.
I certainly hope he has it, and if he does, I figure Spencer is definitely gone.

Yeah, the biggest winners in the new scheme might be Crawford and Wilber....very good coming out of this last draft to get two guys that fit so well.
Coverage is actually Wilber's best attribute, pass rushing was where he struggled which made him a bad fit in the 3-4. In the 4-3 at SLB, it should really fit his skill set well.....hopefully he steps up gives and Albright a run for his money.
I will say, I'm much more comfortable with Albright/Wilber starting over Coleman/Spears.....and it shouldn't be close for anyone and makes this scheme change actually make sense....now if we can actually get the safeties to run it effectively....
