Yep, I'm sure this has nothing to do with the recent reports about Jerry wanting him out. Pure coincidence.

Only Jason makes those calls...you didnt get that memo?

John has also been the Passing game coordinator....so it kind like an OC-lite.

This is the original article that has been the source of these claims. AFAIK there are no other reports where this is not the source.

Quote:
According to Chris Mortensen of ESPN, owner Jerry Jones is pushing coach Jason Garrett to relinquish play-calling duties. Per Mort, Jones also may be trying to get Garrett to fire his brother, tight ends coach John Garrett.

Mort says John Garrett is calling around the league regarding other available jobs. Which could indeed means that John Garrett fears his brother will fire him.
Now in comparison here is an example of an article that sources the above article.

Quote:
Jones also wants Garrett to fire his brother, John, the team’s tight ends coach who is calling around the league in search of other jobs, according to Mortenson.

If there is another source for this I do not see it.

Big difference between leaving a stable NFL job and looking for work in general.

Last season John was interviewed for the OC position in Miami in Jan.

I don't find it odd that once again John is looking for higher opportunities now that there are alot of positions open in the NFL and in college.

What I do find odd though is the folks that cling to everything the media writes/publishes as if it were gospel. Jerry doesn't need to be a salesman when the media is already doing it for him.
"It's little bit like the description of pornography from years back. It's hard to define it. But you know what it is at the end of it. It's hard to define it. I think you know who is more physical. Often times you see that in the fourth quarter. A lot of time the team on the other side feels it. We pride ourselves on being a physical football team. It's important to us. It's an important time of the year to lay that foundation." - Coach Garrett

I think some folks who are frustrated that Jason is still here would derive some satisfaction from seeing his brother get ousted or downgraded or some other happening that could be perceived as negative.

Jason is Jason. John is John. No disrespect intended but I'm not real concerned about what happens to the latter.

There have been reports for the last two years about John Garrett being interested in getting back into college. And yes, I would consider becoming a HC in college a promotion from babysitting for the Wittens or whatever it is the TEs coach does around here.

What could be more uncomfortable than firing your own kin? Hopefully he has enough time to get another position before that takes place.
