Lovie won't come here to be a position coach under Garrett. He also won't be interested in sharing a title with Monte. All that would do is muddy the water IMO. I don't think Smith would do that.

Yeah, I can see the fit, from our perspective.

But to go from DC to DL coach is in every way a demotion and I just don't see why he would want to come here.

If he came here, he'd probably be running most of the defense with kiffin. Just wouldn't have the title. If you promise him the coordinator job when monte goes then it really could work to his benefit and ours

I've heard San Diego and Celevland are interested in him as a DC. I see no reason for him to downgrade to a positional coach either. We'll see.

While this is good news, I suspect we will hear about numerous teams wanting to talk to him about a DC job by the end of the day. He is really going to want to be with Kiffin and Jerry is going to have to pay him like a DC or it will be tough to get him to Dallas.
