We've finally got an organization that's committed to putting a winning structure in place. Why in the world would we disassemble it for a retread commentator who's been out of the game for what amounts to a lifetime and who's publicly shopping for a HC gig and getting nowhere with it? It's just not going to happen, thankfully. Our fans are just going to have to satisfy themselves with incremental improvement. Poor things.
Or make it up where none exists?

8-8 = 8-8

Poor things.

Yeah, I obviously wasn't referring to improvement in terms of the team's record. I'm talking about improving as an organization: doing things methodically, drafting well, implementing a quality conditioning program, populating the roster with the personalities you want and instilling a won't-quit attitude, a willingness to address weaknesses (secondary, OL), insulating the team more effectively against outside influences, etc. You know, running things better.

Believe it or not, sometimes you can improve organizationally but it really does take a little chopping wood for it to show up in the win column.
When asked whether Jason Garrett is the right head coach for this team: "I don't think there is anyone else that could. I think he is an unbelievable coach. We've responded to him and he has made us better football players, better people. If you watch us I think we play with a certain relentless spirit." --Sean Lee

Well said. See Jimmy Johnson. 3-13 to 1-15 to 7-9 to 11-5 to back/back Championships.

One key difference between Jimmy and Jason - Jimmy inherited a roster completely bereft of talent, Jason did not. Quite the opposite in fact.

You know me.

It's a bottom line proposition in my book.

You win games or you lose games.

Improvement is only improvement when it translates into winning.

If it doesn't, it's simply a lot of hollow talk.

I do know that's your position. I just don't understand how such a smart poster can disregard the, literally, dozens of examples of good teams that didn't start off winning nearly as many games/season as they ended up winning once the program was in place.

I would counter how a smart poster would simply assume that the program being put in place is a 'winning' one despite all evidence to the contrary?

Offense steadily improving under Garrett's hand? Nope.

Defense getting better? No again.

Special teams maybe? Let's ask the guy who just left.

How about wins? No improvement there either.

So if there is no tangible evidence to support 'the process' working, then maybe 'the process' isn't as good as the folks supporting it would have you believe?

I was hopeful earlier, but by now? If Red is still here now, I find it hard to believe he won't be when the season starts next year.

Doubt Gruden is coming here, though I'd like him to. Even if he couldn't lift the team up above mediocrity ( I think he would ), his press conferences would at least be entertaining, unlike the robotic ones of Garrett. Those bland press conferences work for Belicheck only because of his success.

Amen on that! Just say No To Chucky! He won a SB with Dungy's team in Tampa against a foe he knew all too well but outside of being a notorious workaholic what else has set him apart from the pack?
