The Curse of Doug Flutie
Quote:
The Curse of Flutie is karmic retribution from the great spiritual beyond for the fact that (Wade) Phillips benched our pint-sized hero passer before the 1999 playoffs when both were with Buffalo, despite the fact that the Bills had gone 10-5 with Flutie at the helm.
The Cold, Hard Football Facts named that move the worst head-coaching decision of the 20th century. And the Curse wasted no time spreading its tangled web of misery and cruel defeat: with Flutie watching from the sidelines, the Bills immediately suffered one of the most memorable and painful defeats in NFL history. They lost to the Titans in a postseason finish so improbable and controversial it's known only as "The Music City Miracle."
Twelve years later, and Buffalo has never returned to the playoffs.
[View Full Quote]But that was just the start of the Curse of Flutie. It's left a predictable trail of misery, defeat and missed opportunity in its wake from one end of the NFL to the other. Any team that employs Phillips is doomed to suffer.

In all seriousness, this list was rather eye-opening with regards to how many players for successful teams have recent arrests. The Cowboys are not an unusual case at all.

Has nothing to do with tunnel vision. AGAIN....we could care less about the drama with other teams. Zero to do with the Dallas Cowboys. Aldon Smith could eat baby seals for all I care.

“That is one of the luxuries of my position as owner as well as the ultimate decision maker, general manager and president – I can do that and take the losses and come back for more,” Jones said.

That's just stupid. He knows that he has been messing up.
What is that saying about the definition of insanity...?

Is there a difference between the two? The poor results are the same.

There is no such things as a sports curse. We haven't executed well enough. That isn't because of a broken mirror, or a witch doctor, or spitting in the eye of the village witch, or a bargain with God. God doesn't care if we win or lose and there is no curse.
The only cursing is the rest of us when we see them screw up. That's not the same thing by any wild stretch.

This. People make mistakes. No amount of coaching can improve personal responsibility and character.

Teams are built with finding good players that make the core of the team in the lower rounds. I am not sure about the curse, but we are not lucky either. When we had top 10 picks, we don't have HOF players available in the draft for us (Newman, Roy Williams, Greg Ellis) where us other teams could get good players like Troy Polamalu and Haloti Ngata in the teens.

Every time something positive happens to re-ignite the fires, something goes wrong like Ratliff or even the Callahan story. One step forward, two steps back, then one sideways, then one forward, then sideways.....

I think this team is cursed with fans. No body in mind. But i think this team aswell as every other iconic team has fans that go overboard.

Let's hope it's not the entire family but just the nut currently in charge.
I don't have any faith in that, but I have hope.

In his mind, he's not messing up. The Dallas Cowboys are still one of the most (if not THE most) valuable franchises in sports. He's making money, and lots of it.
In the video, he talked about fear of being broke again. He's not going to change what's working for him.
Note to Cowboy fans: we alone have the power to change what's working for him.
It's a new season, let's go!

Jerry bought 3 rings, they basically invented the cap because of what Jerry and Eddie D were doing in the 90s.
Ever since a level playing field has been established, this team has been consistently mediocre.
Wasn't until the Tuna showed up did things start to change.
