Default Trade for a starting quality guard?

Would you trade a 4th or 5th round pick for an above average starting caliber guard with a decent cap number? Maye a better guard than we could get in free agency?

If so we could get a RT, in round 1, draft a center/guard in the second and have a pretty revamped OL for next year.

Given how bad the Dallas OL evaluation process has been...I say no to any FA. They are too expensive and always under perform.

Trade some old players and get more draft picks. Then load up on the OL and DL.

Given that each NFL team has 3 starting interior offensive line positions I don't think anyone on the trading block will be better than our current in-house options.

we have done about as well in FA as we have in the draft.

though Kosier was certainly a very good deal.

Colombo too I guess.

Twice the positive results we have gotten from drafting. So maybe.

as long as we do not dumpster dive like we did last year

The Jets have two free agent guards who are familiar with Bill Callahan's scheme
In the final two months of 2011, Romo’s passer rating was 115.9.

Is that an Offensive Guard or Andre Gurode?

Good O Linemen are like pitching in baseball. You can never have enough and if you did why would you move it for a low pick.

What old players could we trade for picks? Usually players have little value to teams relative to their picks.

The Pittsburgh Steelers invest high draft picks in the offensive and defensive lines and cut players who drink and drive and get caught.

Wouldn't hurt us to operate that way.

Pitt cuts/trades "expendable" players

Why I was drafting DeCastro, plus we would have had a second round pick. He will be a solid player for the Steelers.

I hear you.

Maybe I'm just looking for a general plan/operational policy as an organization instead of patching and/or changing coaches and schemes every so often.

We don't really seem to have a general way of operating. It seems mostly reactionary.

As long as they don't play a significant amount, or take up a lot of cap space. They didn't exactly do anything to Ben Ruthlessraper after he was involved in two sexual assault cases.
There's always more to the story.
