Been wrong before though.

If the price was right for Bush and he accepted a complementary role, I agree that he'd fit ok in Dallas.
He had a great game against GB, and he did finish the year stronger than he'd been playing mid-season, but the guy cracked 200 yards in only 7 games all season, and had several games where the offense out rushed the passing game in terms of both yards *and* average/play. With that rushing game and an opportunistic defense, that's a team that could benefit from better QB play. (Though, they also need a starting-quality WR, and to retain Harvin).
When asked whether Jason Garrett is the right head coach for this team: "I don't think there is anyone else that could. I think he is an unbelievable coach. We've responded to him and he has made us better football players, better people. If you watch us I think we play with a certain relentless spirit." --Sean Lee

C'mon, these two represent upgrades, so don't pretend they do not.
Having a hard time understanding your typing, without your normal hillbillyomics posting style. But I would definitely take a flyer on Bush.

I could see both in Arizona

I would love to see Bush in Dallas, but not for the money he will want.We have to fix OL first and foremost then pass rusher.Smith wants to be a starter not a backup.I wonder if Patriots would be interested in Bush, then need to get Brady some more weapons.

Smith played for one of the best defenses and offensive lines in football. It really doesn't get anymore QB friendly than San Fran. He will struggle anywhere he goes just because he's just not very good.

Imagine him behind our line. Scary huh?

Maybe so. I suspect you're being to kind to Smith though. His average passing yards for all of his last full season was less than 200 yards per game. Total bus driver stats...but efficient bus driver

Orton is a loser, too..just like Romo.

This guy did nothing in his other stops around the league.

I'd take Alex as a guy with a top pedigree and something to prove with a chip on his shoulder.

But it won't happen. Romo is Jerrah's lapdog and that's that. Same as Bledsoe was Parcells boy.

Romo is Jerrah's boy and the team will go down in flames until the end with Romo.

Tisk tisk.

I don't think A.Smith is the Cowboys answer.

I'm thinking Alex Smith and Philly w/ Kelly's offense would make a good match. Most forget at Utah, he actually ran quite a bit, and was fairly successful at it. (he rushed for over 1000 yards and 10 TD's in the two years he started)

Personally, I hope they try to go with Foles...because I just don't see the fit there.

Alex Smith is going to look terrible under any other system out there. He had the perfect system, head coach to teach him and the players to go with him. And a really solid defense. He was pretty bad even up until last season. Even after they got to a NFC Championship with him, they still desperately wanted someone else.

He won't be an upgrade here at all.

Thanks for trying to turn this into a bash Jerry and Romo thread.

This is a team who is battling several major injuries to
key players including Pro Bowl talents like Lee, Austin, Jenkins, Murray,
Carter and Ratliff. Other key starters missing include Costa, Smith, Church and
Coleman. That is 11 key players - that's half the starting lineup. Yet we still went 8-8.

Bush>>Jones

Orton > Smith

As others have said, Reggie won't come to Dallas to back up, and we need to spend any FA money on OL and DL primarily
