Could Campo go 8-8 with this talent?
Also could he have gone 8-8 with Romo as his QB?

He went 5-11 with way worse talent. If Romo is as good as everyone claims then he should be worth 3 more wins, right?

Could Andy Reid with his? Tom Coughlin?
The NFL is a tough business. Only in Dallas is 8-8 the end of the world and a harkening back to the darkest days of the franchise.
To answer your question: no.
When asked whether Jason Garrett is the right head coach for this team: "I don't think there is anyone else that could. I think he is an unbelievable coach. We've responded to him and he has made us better football players, better people. If you watch us I think we play with a certain relentless spirit." --Sean Lee

And not just Romo, but Demarcus Ware... Spencer... Dez... Lee... Witten...
That's what's funny about people saying this team lacks so much talent. Go look at those teams if you want to see true lack of talent.

Yes, I see Romo and a couple other players as the difference between 5-11 and 8-8 today. Garrett and Campo are interchangeable, both just steal oxygen.
I'll be sick of the wasted years given to Wade and Garrett when Jerry is forced to bring in someone competent, as he had to do with Parcells. I look forward to someone who knows what they are doing to get Romo to the next level.

Yes, Heaven forbid expectations are a little higher for a team that spends as much as any other team and annually voices displeasure with average results.

You'll get no argument from me that expectations are too high for this team. Or that our fans are mostly whiney children when their expectations aren't met. Cue the 17-years-of-futility dirge.

What difference does it make if he could or could not?

That's six great players. Sure, we have more than that, but we also have a lot of average to poor players, including an OL full of players who have no business getting significant playing time.
Add in a ST's group that's nothing special, and you have a team that is top heavy, but not solid throughout. You might win where you're strong, but you will lose where you're weak.
There's always more to the story.

No. Garrett does do one thing very well. He's got guys always playing hard and for the full 60 minutes. Guys quit on Campo left and right

Any coach could go 4-12 or 12-4 with this roster, depending on injuries, scheduling, good/bad bounces, and other quasi-random circumstances beyond their control.
If you could somehow re-play the same season over and over again, letting all of those circumstances play out independently each time, I would wager the team would average more wins under Garrett than under Campo.
