Default Bunker Standoff Enters 5th Day...***Kid is safe***

I've been following this since it started but thought it would be over quickly.

http://www.cnn.com/2013/02/02/us/ala...html?hpt=hp_t1

I've read a couple things where his neighbors said he's been known to stay down there for like 8 days and someone I was talking to the other day say that they read he has a stockpile down there to sustain himself for a while.

What a nut.

There are easier ways to make a statement that do not involve killing people and kidnapping a kid.

Fruit loop for sure. He is facing some other legal issues. Not sure why he thought this would help.

It's not about help, it's about attention. That's exactly what he's going to get.

This really disturbs me. I don't understand how you can beat a person's dog to death with a lead pipe and just get a "talking to" from the cops. Then fire at your neighbors with a shotgun and not be taken in.

That guy really has issues. He's a veteran and I would have much rather he have gotten some attention prior to this episode.

Really feel bad for the child and his parents. No one deserves the stress they are under.
What used to be is gone and what ought to be ought not to be so hard.

Why not pump the place with some non lethal gas. Then send a swat team in to put the guys head on a spike.

Pretty much.

If he didn't have the kid down there and was only wanted for killing someone, they'd likely have already gassed him out of there.

Also, I think a lot of gasses they could use are highly flammable. At least the one's that might be used to put the guy to sleep.

This guy is really off from what people from that town have said. He may keep the kid in there for years.

Not saying that I would be right, but if this were my grandson, I am afraid that either I would be dead or that old guy would be dead.

This is tearing my heart out and it is not even my family.

No matter how this turns out, as soon as he comes out of that bunker he should be taken out, .. just to let those that want to mess with our kids know that this is how we roll.

I wish that is how that will be handled but that is not the way we take care of our kids in this society.

I haven't read the reports but I was talking to a friend who said he read some stuff about comments from the chief or whoever was leading the way out there.

Guess they had a camera on the inside somehow and after the guy stopped responding and refused to communicate he was apparently getting a little unnerved. They said when they saw him with the gun they made the call to go in and they dropped a stun grenade in there and then shot the guy.

I think time was closing in as well. Gun in his hand or not I think they would have had to make a move because we're getting too far into the ordeal for anyone to not think he could just end it all at any moment.

I figured they would get a camera in there. I thought they would just tunnel it right in corner or something. It was just a dirt bunker wasn't it? Or did he have concrete walls?

My friend said his local news station was speculating that one of the hot wheels cars they passed to the boy may have actually had a camera in the thing.

If so, that's awesome.

Whole story turned out alright. With all the horrid stories you hear, having one end without innocent lives lost is a good thing.

They don't make bunkers like they used to.
