Default Statue for Lewis?

Give me a friggin break. They're going to erect a statue of Ray Lewis in Balt.???

You have got to be kidding me. Without going into it I'm just flabbergasted.

Aside from the personal matters of Ray Lewis....he has quite simply leap-frogged Cal Ripken Jr. as Maryland's most beloved athlete (and deservedly so). The statue thing I'd hold off until he's passed on though (see Joe Paterno).

Maybe the statue thing reflects we worship jocks and entertainers too much in general.

In a hundred years, will our grandchildren remember some rock star or Steve Jobs?

I'm not sure about passing Ripken, but Lewis is an icon for Baltimore.

Well, to be fair, no one man created the Web. It was really more of a community effort between DOE and DOD.

However, on the whole, I do agree with your point in general.

Wish I'd come on the board earlier i was going to say the same thing until I scrolled down and there it was.

As for Balt putting up a Lewis statue I see no problem with it. Everyone has made mistakes in their past some far worse than others but it's all about what you do after those mistakes that matter and he's done alot for Baltimore and is pretty much the face of the city for years now there aren't many people that don't at least know the name and that's including even the most casual of sports fans.

I do believe in giving a man a 2nd chance, turn a new leaf, etc, etc.

I'm not getting into if Lewis was actually an accomplice or not - just have not looked into that enough to comment - God (and Lewis, couple of others) only knows

I will comment that the attention he brings to himself is what's annoying....the life he is professing to lead is among other things is putting others before him - that would include keeping a low profile and less of attentionmongering.

Speaking for myself, I just want to be known as a decent guy - the statues leans towards worship. On the extreme, just don't understand why a Kim Sung ill (sp) needed worship. Besides, in America we are so open we are going to find everybody's shortcomings.

They are probably doing this so they can somewhat erase the history they had in Cleveland and make a statement saying Ray Lewis was the start of the franchise.
