Default Cowboys to restructure Carr's Contract

The Cowboys will restructure Carr’s contract, which will save about $10.5 million in space, and can look to rework the deals of DeMarcus Ware and Jason Witten, which would create about $6.5 million in space. A new deal for Romo would likely cut his $16.8 million salary-cap figure in half.

Just realized that this article was from yesterday. Hope it isn't a duplicate on here. Sorry if it is.

So that's about 25 million in saved space? So with those 4 deals, they would now be 3-5 under the cap??

And then there is Free, Austin, Connor and Ratliff. They can be cut or re-worked to get another $10M, plus they can borrow $3M from future caps if they really need to get someone. Not to bad considering the $5M penalty.

Free will save 7mil

Broaddus said from word he's hearing at Vr Dallas will not do anything with Miles deal. He either plays better or will be cut.

Connor will be cut saving 2 mil

Ratliff IMO should be cut. And i think if Dallas stays virtually pat at DT then he'll stay. If they go out and sign FA and draft DT. Id say he's gone. Freeing up 1 mil.

Id like to see them free up about 10-15 mil. Then go and sign a couple Lower guys along the DL. Okoye, Ty Warren types.

Maybe a WR like Devery Henderson, or Louis Murphy.

Those messages don't work. Until Goodell starts banning players from the league for incidents with the law, it's no different than most work places in America.

On the cap, hope they can find some room to add Brandon Moore from the NYJ as our new RG.

Assuming he gets a 5 years, most of the money will probably be pushed to the last 2 years. He gets the money either way. He'll get his monster new contract, but it can be made to be much less than $17mil per year for the first 3.

Yeah I guess it just depends on the deal, but to cut next years cap hit in half I would imagine his 4th and 5th year cap hit would have to be like 25M.

Cuts his cap figure down. He will still get a new contract with a big signing bonus. Bonuses are prorated over the life of the contract as far as the cap figure is concerned.

Romo will do that in part because he will get a good chunk of that money up front in signing bonus, which will be spread out over the life of the contract. He still gets the money and gets it up front, but the actual 2013 cap hit will be about half of what it is now.

A lower cap number doesn't mean he gets less money. A $25 million signing bonus buys just as much as a $25 million salary, but the cap hit for the signing bonus is prorated over the duration of the contract.

Plus, the signing bonus is guaranteed money, and the extension means he'll have job security for a longer period of time.

More money is........more money.

His base salary is all he is going to get unless he has a roster bonus in there.

Looks like he'll make 11.5M via weekly checks.

Signing a new deal likely gives him 20M guaranteed right up front and another couple million in base salary.

People on this board need to start doing basic math and not calling on an expert to explain simple stuff over and over
