If we are unable to sign Spencer, I'd much rather bring in Osi & have him rotate with Crawford. Having snaps taken away from him in New York, he still has proven he can provide pressure to the QB & decent against the run + I am thinking Osi would come at a reasonable price.

Could be considerably cheaper than Spencer and produce similar results if not better. Saved money could be spent on interiors of OL/DL.

I have suggested Freeney before in discussions about Spencer.
Freeney would be a Nickel pass-rushing specialist at Strong-Side DE and a backup to Ware at WDE. The Nickel pass-rusher would rarely have to play the run.
Freeney (Nickel) + Crawford (Base) should be much cheaper than Spencer.
I wouldn't expect Freeney to get over 4M.
In the above scenario, he would not really be a starter or a backup. I would call it a pseudo-starter similar to the 3rd WR or slot CB.

I remember reading last offseason how Ware and Osi are great friends, train together in the offseason, and both said they would love to play together.

You are making an assumption that he will get a big salary this year. Everyone else posting in this thread has gone with the opposite assumption that he would be affordable.
If he is commanding a big contract, then there's no point in discussing it. Everyone else seems to get that and is speculating whether Freeney would be worth considering.
We all know that if Freeney requires a big contract then he's not comin here. You are arguing with no one on this point. You're debating an aspect of the discussion that no one is arguing for. This thread has the built in inference that Freeney would be at least less than half the cost of Spencer.

Didn't they graduate from the same High School or something? Few years apart?
Ok. I looked it up. They both went to Auburn(AL) High School and also both went to Troy University. Osi is two years ahead of Demarcus.

What's the point of bringing him in for 2 years? I think we're at least 2 years from being a Super Bowl contender and I'd assume Freeney wants to get a 3-4 year contract to finish his career with a team who's already there. Even at $4M per it would be a waste of money for us in our current situation.

Nice find!
Don't get me wrong - I want Dallas to re-sign Spencer as the top offseason priority, but if that's not possible, I want Osi as my second choice. He and Ware would make excellent bookends!

that would be significant signing if they could get him for 4 million. Plus Crawford gets to pick the brains of two of better pass rushers.

That's not what I said. But Ware can and will switch sides at times and I would have no problem putting Ware opposite Freeney at times.
Did you know there are only 5000 Snow Leopards in the wild now and they are confined to Central Asia? However, the effective global population (those likely to reproduce) is less than half that number.

I've always really liked Dwight Freeney. If it could be done without creating salary cap hell and if he's healthy, then, yeah. Go for it.

Agree with this.
IF he comes for the right price and lets face it he will be cheap at this stage of his career he could be very valuable for us. He is an excellent pass rusher and still has all the moves even as he ages on.
Big Yes from me depending on $$$.

Dwight Freeney will get money based on his name. You don't pay for guys like that. Get a young guy who's better and pay him less to do the same role.
Here's to good friends livin' large in Texas. Texas forever!

Sorry but bringing in Freeney would be a huge mistake.
I'd rather bring in some relatively unknown YOUNG guy to play SDE.
Oh wait... we already have that on the roster... Tyrone Crawford.
