Default Mock I did well before the Kiper Invitational

That I didn't want to release prior to the actual draft starting...because I thought that it could potentially damage my board....little did I know....that my board was crushed right after I traded down!

Didn't stick to this at all but...

My Mock:
18)DE-Sam Montgomery
47)OG-Larry Warford
80)RB- Stepfan Taylor
111)OC- Brian Schwenke
144)WR-Marquise Goodwin
175)DT-Montori Hughes

If we drafted Sam Montgomery at 18, I would punch a hole right through my television.

He would be justified.

Meh, I feel end is a slightly higher priority for us than DT.

Tea leaves point to Spencer being retained, as he should be. They drafted Tyrone Crawford with their 2nd pick in last year's draft.

Name the last time the Cowboys spent higher than a 6th round draft pick on a DT or when was the last time they signed a big name free agent DT?

I'll save you time. Willie Blade in 2001. Unless you trust a rotation of Ratliff/Lissemore/Hatcher then DT is a much higher need than end.

You need both an end and dt. Which ever one is higher on the board gets the nod.

Ware/Spencer/Crawford/Butler/Wilber > Ratliff/Lissemore/Hatcher/Callaway

I'm not holding my breath on Spence being here. I'm not sure how good Crawford is yet.

I agree we need both. It really comes down to opportunity. What's there when we pick.

We'll settle this with a good dust up.

Just to clarify... I don't have a problem with a DT or DE at that pick... However there are a few I would not like and that player is one of them.

What you got against Sam BP?

That may be true, but only 60% of the left side there is under contract. If Spencer doesn't get re-signed, you're looking at Crawford as a starter vs. a Rat/Lissemore/Hatcher situation at DT.

I like Crawford, but hard to argue in that case that end doesn't become a more pressing area of concern.

Slow First step
Injury History
Rumors of questionable work ethic
Should have put up much larger numbers with the players around him getting attention
Should not be taken in the top or middle of the round...should be closer to the end of the round at best IMO.

Personally none of the LSU D Linemen are on my wish list for the first round.

We should have much better players available to us in the first round.
