I do agree with you though, Derrick Brooks was not huge and he played WLB for Tampa Bay. I think he was only around 6'0" 235-240. Certainly not much bigger if at all. I could easily see Brown filling a role such as that for a team.

EDIT: I think you're correct and he was at WLB.

I think we already have our OLB in Carter
an 2nd is to high for LB IMO
i go after AJ Klien ILB Iowa State in the 5th
After limited playing time as a freshman in 2009, he became a starter in 2010 and was quickly a standout, registering 111 tackles, 8.0 tackles for loss and three interceptions (two returned for touchdowns), earning All-Big 12 Honorable Mention honors.
He followed that up two more remarkably statistically-similar campaigns, averaging 116.5 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss,

In a normal 43, he'd probably be a great pick at MLB but not in a Tampa2. Your MLB has to be able to drop and cover. Klein can do neither. If, in fact, we are going to play a Tampa2, I think we would be doing this guy a disservice if we drafted him to play MLB for us. He's a good football player who will make a team in a normal 43 IMO but I'm not sure he could make ours. JMO

Brown good fit for our system, not sure he is available in second with our pick. He would immediately improve the LB core.

with those options, i would rather go safety or DL in round 2 than LB
esp given the relative importance of our third LB vs starting FS in the tampa 2

think about it...
if our GM gets fired he will not get another job as GM
if our director of pro-personnel gets fired he will not get another job as that in the NFL
if our HC gets fired he will not get another job as HC in the NFL
ALL THESE PEOPLE ARE IN POSITION ONLY BECAUSE JERRY IS THE OWNER AND GM
and not one of them is qualified to do the job they are doing

No doubt.
I guess if the value is overwhelming to take a LB or other position, that would change things.

agreed but chances are all the safeties (except vaccaro) and all DTs other than the top 3 will be available there at 47
too good to pass up

Is there a list somewhere of who was also available where the Cowboys picked? I doubt very much they will be picking a LB in the 2nd. OL, DL, S more likely.

So, if we took Brown, who plays MLB in a Tampa2?

Lee is Mike.
Carter is Will
Brown is Sam
not that would be impressive.
My question would could Brown handle the TEs. I assume he could

Me neither. I assume that, but certainly don't know for sure.
His skill set seems to fit well, imo.
He's outstanding at dropping back and making plays--I bet he gets more than one pick this year doing so. Plus he's a good QB in the middle who tackles everythng in sight. With the 1gap hopefully occupying two players he could be in the Pro Bowl.
The good news is that I think both he and Carter can play all three positions.

No. Brown could not play Strong Side LB. He can not get off blocks very well when OLs engage him and he can not anchor at the point of attack well enough. He is not a SOLB. He would have to be a WLB or the Middle LB in a Tampa2.

I like goodman but that seems a little early for him. Good rotation guy if Ware needs a breather.

Lacewell claimed Lee will be the MLB. (My opinion) But because of Lee's instincts and quickness WLB could be a possiblity for him too.
