Generally that is a feature you can adjust or turn off. I am a huge fan of Samsung TV's. Play with the menus and check out the settings. See how flexible the set is.

If you can spend a lil more, there is a 47" tv on Groupon for 750. Includes 3D.
Not sure how much shipping is.

Is that from a reliable source? You can't always believe what you read on the internet. And isn't that what causes the soap opera effect?

Ok, I've read up on it. LG is trying to pass off 60 hz tvs as 120 hz ones. (although that is the same technology that causes soap opera effect)

I can only judge them from what I can read up on them. At your price point the LEDs are likely going to have something "flawed". I did notice someone recommending this sony model non 3d(it has good amazon reviews but who knows) on avs but I have no idea how good it is either or if you are willing to buy from the internet. Plasma at this price point might be better but thicker of course.
Sony KDL46EX645 46-Inch 1080p MotionFlow 240HZ Internet Slim LED HDTV (Black)699.99 shipped
http://www.amazon.com/Sony-KDL46EX64.../dp/B008XG1N72
It was discussed and compared to a Vizio here:

Someone on that page also mentioned that they called Sony and got it for 650 shipped. (sony website shows no longer available)

I use a 55" panasonic vierra plasma for my xbox and love it. I probably won't ever get a tv other than a panasonic, never had a problem with any of them.
For the price of around $700, this is one to consider...

It does many other things as well, a really good TV IMO. Also, I don't notice any 'soap opera' effects on 99% of the shows and movies, only the rare instance.
Everyone has a plan, until they get hit.

I noticed on my email a groupon buy for a toshiba led 120 hz 47L6200U $749.99
Haven't read up on it yet. Reading on it one member was questioning if it to were really a 60 hz model.

Speedkillz thanks for all of your help. I appreciate it.
This is a really difficult task just to get a decent tv that doesn't have a bunch of lag time or ghosting on video games.
It's so bad on the TV I have now that I probably wont notice the difference with a new TV.

Alright. It will probably be a couple of weeks. Im going to scout it out a little.
It's for a bedroom so im not going all in. I may even go with a 42 inch tv so I can get a little better quality.

As a few others said... If you absolutely don't want any lag, how about a plasma? Far better refresh rates than LCD/LED (won't lag or ghost, ever) and they usually cost less for the same size screen. The old problems of burn in and eating tons of electricity have pretty much been solved.

FYI, starting around April, Target starts clearing out this year's models to make room for the next. I've gotten 70% off before. They'll be reduced 30%, then 50%, then 70%
