SteelerNation be turned on it's ear. That would be equivalent of Roger Staubach in a Steeler uni.

saying you see safety as a nedd does'nt mean you are spending a first rnd pick on one, or any pick for that matter. could very well mean they sign a free agent vet with some experience in the new system. there are a few out there who fit that description

The fact that Stephen Jones flat out said safety is the #1 priority, leads me to believe that they could be targeting a safety in free agency. Why show your cards?
1. Brandon Magee will beat out Ernie Sims for the backup WILL/MO roster spot.
2. Ron Leary will start at right guard over Bernadeau.
3. Joseph Randle, Terrance Williams and Gavin Escobar will have more combined TD's than DeMarco Murray, Miles Austin and Jason Witten.
4. Bruce Carter makes the Pro Bowl.
5. The starting OL will be Smith-Livings-Frederick-Leary-Free

Safety is a need, but I think Stephen Jones is getting his smoke screen practice starting, I see Dallas taking the best DL or OL player available at 18.
I may live in DC but my heart is with the COWBOYS!!!!!..A Storm is coming!!

No. And to be honest, I've always thought he was overrated and a product of the Steelers system.
But it could be a bit of bias there..
Thank you to all donated to the Jason Witten Camp drive!

It is worrisome if that's the case.
If you have a race car that you take for drive and notice the engine isn't right, but in the process you get a flat tire. Your immediate need is to get the tire fixed to get you back to the shop. Then you fix the engine.
But as far as the amount investment, you spend your dollars (or 1st round pick) on what will win you races (Dline/Engine) and spend less (3rd-4th rounder) on what will get you to the shop (Safety/tires).

Not really sure how the title is misleading guys. I basically just paraphrased the title of the article, since it's a long title. Yes he meant #1 priority on defense, but it didn't take much work to figure that out. Not like he didn't alude to safety being THE TOP priority on D at any point in the article.
I digress... if we bring Spencer back, I can't say I disagree. I just don't think the talent at #18 will dictate that FS should be the pick. I'm not a huge Vaccaro fan.

Couldnt agree more. Dude plays park football. Heinz was the same, IMO.

How did you get that from the article?
This is a team who is battling several major injuries to
key players including Pro Bowl talents like Lee, Austin, Jenkins, Murray,
Carter and Ratliff. Other key starters missing include Costa, Smith, Church and
Coleman. That is 11 key players - that's half the starting lineup. Yet we still went 8-8.

Truth to what he is saying, but gotta do this smokescreen stuff where it could affect a team reaching for a draft pick down the road when thinking the Cowboys are interested in a certain player.

Ya know.......That very well could be. Good point.
I'm definitely not complaining about Heinz. He did some great things for Pitt park football style.
Palo however........I see him on TOP of the pile alot.
