Sean Lee will get first crack at MLB, but Carter will get a look there too
While it has been assumed linebacker Sean Lee will be the middle linebacker in the 4-3 defense, Garrett said Bruce Carter might get the chance to play inside and Lee could be the WILL linebacker on the outside. But Garrett said Lee will “get the first crack” at playing in the middle.

Lee and Carter are interchangeable, in my opinion.

I hear ya, but I personally believe Lee is the prototypical MLB and Carter the prototypical WILL. That being said, I'm very open to competition.
We need wins, and that's all we need. I don't give a damn about anyone on this roster over wins. I'd trade Ware, Lee and Dez if it meant more wins.

Couldn't agree more. IMO, I'd play them both at the Will and Sam in TC just in case one goes down. Not 50/50 but enough snaps to get a feel. I'd rather play Albright or Lemon at Mike and move Lee to the Will if Carter is injured.
Did you know there are only 5000 Snow Leopards in the wild now and they are confined to Central Asia? However, the effective global population (those likely to reproduce) is less than half that number.

That's exactly what I was thinking and what they're probably thinking.

The burning question for me is what are they going to do at SAM.

It will only take one crack at it for Lee to cement the starting MLB.

All depends on how the player fits and how comfortable they get. Some people you can move around and others not. Even in the same scheme, coaches yada. Some of this may come down to who is the Sam. If Lee is the best Sam then you find a Mike.

The 3rd LB could impact the position of Lee or Carter due to the fact that they can probably play any of he 3 spots.
If a player like Ernie Sims is re-signed and becomes the leading candidate to be the 3rd LB, then he might be best at WLB. In this case, getting the 3 best on the field could have Carter at SLB.
If a player like Albright is the best 3rd LB, then he would be the SLB and Carter would most likely be the WLB.

the fact that we have two guys who could play both positions and excel is a luxury i'm happy we have
i could see an advantage of using Carter at MLB due to his speed to run back in the Tampa 2 and cover the deep middle...but i think his speed and burst could make him ELITE at the WILL so that's where i'd put him
and we've seen that Lee could excel anywhere and his anticipation and ability to read make him a stud at MLB
either way though...two great players who i can't wait to see play together for a full season
