Default Where would Tyron Smith rank in this year's draft?

If he were coming out this year, where would he be ranked among the top LT prospects like fisher, lane johnson, and joeckel? Just curious.

Smith is better than all of em.

If Tyron Smith circa 2011 were coming out? Like who he was as a draft prospect?

I'd say he'd be battling Lane for #3.

That's a though one. Honestly, he might be 2nd or 3rd in this draft.

I would say that Johnson would be ranked higher because he flat out tests better in almost every category. Depending on how much you like Fisher, he might also rank higher. Both of these guys are natural LTs and Smith was not so I would think that this would also be added into the equation.

If it were me, I would say Johnson, Smith Fisher. I don't really like Joeckel nearly as much as many do.

I think that's fair. Remember, when Tyron was coming out, he was a beast of a specimen, but still considered a bit of a project that might take 2-3 years before developing into a dominant player. Guys like Joeckel and Fisher are seen as more finished products, who can come in and play at a Pro Bowl level sooner.
There's always more to the story.

Tyrone Smith at the combine and pro day 6-5 307lbs, 36 3/8 arms, 11in Hands and he was cut up:
225 - 29 reps
40yd - 4.88
10yd - 1.69
shuttle - 4.69
3-cone - 7.47

If I remember correctly the only negative on him was that he played Right Tackle. I believe that he would probably be in the discussion for the top tackle off of the board if this were his draft.

His official 40 was 4.95.

He wouldn't have been first in last year's draft either, but I'm not sure what any of that really means.

He'd be the #1 offensive tackle in the draft and possibly the first overall pick.

We'll settle this with a good dust up.

A bit off topic, but our 2011 draft was truly stellar. Smith, Carter, Murray, Harris, Bailey, Albright. That's a killer draft right there.

Agreed. Higher ceiling than the other guys, and when your drafting that early, potential is important. And while I don't know whether or not teams take this into consideration, he was also super young coming out. That extra year or two to develop before hitting prime age makes a huge difference to me. Give me the 21 year old with a ton of potential over the guy who can come in and be solid from day 1 but is 23 every time.

Fisher and Joeckel would be the most polished guys with the most experience. Johnson and Smith would be the athletic, raw, higher upside prospects. All of them could be pro bowlers but teams are pretty risk averse.

I think Smith and Johnson will end up being the best run blockers of the bunch with their agility and length.

Man I don't know if I've seen a tackle with more upside than Lane Johnson. He has been playing the position for 18 months and stoned everybody in his last year of playing the position. He then is voted best lineman over a great player in Fisher at the Senior Bowl, then puts on a show in the underwear Olympics.

Both guys went from 230-240 in high school to 305 as a draft prospect. They are very similar guys.
