Bears Place Franchise Tag on Henry Melton
Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter
Bears used their franchise designation on DT Henry Melton

Kiss that possibility goodbye. Smart move on Chicago's part. With all the restructuring of contracts taking place, what FA's do you think Jerry and co will target? I don't see us making any big splashes, but maybe some cheap OL/DL help?

Completely predictable.
This is a team who is battling several major injuries to
key players including Pro Bowl talents like Lee, Austin, Jenkins, Murray,
Carter and Ratliff. Other key starters missing include Costa, Smith, Church and
Coleman. That is 11 key players - that's half the starting lineup. Yet we still went 8-8.

I thought they'd sign him to a contract. But there goes someone's pet.
Did you know there are only 5000 Snow Leopards in the wild now and they are confined to Central Asia? However, the effective global population (those likely to reproduce) is less than half that number.

As I read the title of this thread, I saw, in my minds eye, the more theatrical version of the Geico Gekko doing the flat tire thing but instead of saying "I have a Flat Tire", he's saying, "They Tagged Melton!"

I believe the Gekko studied under William Shatner.

Yup. I would be a huge fan of this move because I love the OT prospects in this draft.

Along with a # of other teams that we would have a hard time competing against in a bidding war...

We should have a lot of cap space after we cut Free and a few other players, as well as restructure Romo's contract.
I doubt the bidding war would get that ridiculous for a guard. Certainly we will have to shell out cash, but I don't think it will be absurd.

Levitre will be overpriced and the Cowboys simply won't have the cap room. I see them going the Donald Thomas, Chad Rinehart route instead and/or draft a guard pretty high.
