Default I want RB Kevin Smith UCF

This kid is a flat out stud. He runs hard. He runs tough. He has great vision and elusiveness. He displays some power. He can carry the load like a workhorse. He is also a good receiver out of the backfield. The entire defense knows who is getting the ball, crowds the box with 8 or 9, and he still gets it done. He isn't the fastest guy out there, but he has very good speed. When he runs, it looks like he is in slow motion, but he is still getting separation from defenders. I feel he would be the perfect compliment to MB3.

He has had only one bad game all season long....and that was against South Florida.

Now, the question is, does he enter the draft or stay in school for his senior year. If he comes out, I want him in Big D. If he stays, then he most likely will never be a Cowboy....and that would suck.

Kevin Smith is gonna be good, but imo he's not a compliment to MB III, he's the same player. His 4th TD run really shows that cause he sure enough got walked, but was able to stay on his feet after the defender grabbed his face mask.

Emmitt was slow, Curtis Martin was slow, Payton was slow......

Breakaway speed isn't the defining characteristic of a RB.....vision, quickness, shiftiness, elusiveness, and the ability to hold onto the ball are all more important than homerun speed......Kevin Smith has all of those attributes.

And for everyone of those guys there's 100 slow RBs who can't cut it in the NFL. Like I said the kid is good, but is he better than Barber? No. Will he be in a few years? Probably not imo. Does he bring any skills to the table that Barber doesn't posses? Not really

you have no idea whether he is better than barber or not.......he is merely a pro prospect right now. he is my favorite RB prospect right now, even ahead of McFadden.

BTW, let's say he and Barber run the same way........what is so wrong having 2 bruising RBs. It just means that we can still split carries, preserving our guys, while at the same time dishing out a games worth of punishment on defenses.

in fact.....I want Kevin Smith and Jamal Charles in the draft.

I think Barber, Smith, and Charles would give us a very formidable stable at RB. IMO, it would definitely be superior to Barber, JJ, and Thompson.

Charles is a speed back, solid receiver out of the backfield, and can return kicks. He also seems to have overcome his fumbling issues.

I didn't say he'll never be better, but he's not better now (how many collegiate RBs are better than solid pros?) and said I don't think he'll be better down the line. That's my opinion, it could be wrong, but so could yours.

Because I don't think Barber has the speed to take this offense to the next level. So having two won't improve us imo. It's like having 2 possesion WRs, you're gonna need a home run threat eventually. I honestly don't know who I want, not Slaton any more, too inconsistent in big games (vs USF, and vs Pitt and a few others).

If you got 3, you don't have 1.

I think Charles will return to UT but wouldn't want him any way

I like that too... what I don't like are some scouting reports I've read that say he's not particularly fond of running inside, and that he's rather bad when it comes to blocking...

yes i am a Longhorns fan.....and I have been very critical of Charles over the last two years.....especially with his fumbling. However, since the OU game, I don't recall one fumble from him. That was the game where he fumbled just before he got into the end zone, turning a sure TD into a turnover. UT lost that game by 7.

Charles is a solid blocker, a good receiving back, has breakaway speed, will run inside or outside, can return kicks. He would make a very nice compliment to MB3.

I'm a UCF Alumn, so I have watched him a lot over the last few years. He is a very solid player with little weaknesses in his game. For someone that supposedly doesn't have blazing speed, he sure breaks the long runs a lot. His first carry from scrimmage this year was an 80 yard touchdown against NC State. Compared to Barber, he seems to have better cut-back ability, but not as physical a running style. Hard to bring down in the open field. Excellent vision and quite relentless.
