Mock
Trade 22th pick to ATL for their two 2nds-I'm hoping that a QB falls and ALT needs one
1st- Antoine Cason (Arizona-CB)
2nd- Mario Manningham (Mich-WR)
2nd - Jamaal Charles (Texas-RB)
2nd – Traded for RWillliams-WR-Det
3rd - Dwight Lowery (San Jose State-CB)
4th- Owen Schmitt (W Vir-FB)
5th- Traded to move up in the 3rd
6th- Anthony Alridge (Houston-RB)
7th- Fernando Velasco (Georgia-C)
I would sign Hamlin with the thought that RW gets released next year and Hamlin moves to the SS and Henry can take over FS with Newman and Cason the CBs with Lowery the 3rd CB. If RW improves, we can decide between Henry or Williams at that point. I think we should sign Flo to a 3yr contract and let the backups get a little more experience. We should also offer Candy and Barber a 1st round tenders.
Thoughts?

All mocks lose validity once you start assuming trades, positions switches and talking about resigning "Candy".
We need wins, and that's all we need. I don't give a damn about anyone on this roster over wins. I'd trade Ware, Lee and Dez if it meant more wins.

I actually like the idea of trading out of the first in order to pick up more picks. If we could get two seconds for one first then that'd be great. A like the pick of Cason and I really like the pick of Manningham in the 2nd. Initially I wasn't too high on Manningham, maybe it was just a bias against UM WRs, but the kid can play. Of the top WRs Manningham had the most 100 yards games, the second most games with a catch over 20 yards, 2nd most over 30 yards and most over 40 yards. He's a WR who's gotten better and better over his career and I expect that to continue into the NFL.
I don't like the pick of Charles, and I doubt that we'd be able to trade a 2nd for Roy Williams. Im not entirely sold on Lowry, but he does rate highly statistically, I'll reserve judgment until after the combine. One of my favorite things about trading down for more pick is the ability to draft a guy like Owen Schmitt without having to sacrifice depth at another position in the draft. Alridge is one of those guys who I think will be out of the league pretty quickly, and I know nothing about Velasco.
So, I like some of your picks, and I like the idea of picking up two 2nds a lot, but overall there's too many high picks that I don't agree with.

I like it, you'll get a similar player at 22 then in the 2nd with our needs, I would like diffrent choices than Charles (Johnson) and Manningham (fast kid from UH) maybe even Lowery (if Porter or the Iowa kid fall), but I like it.
And if someone offers their 2nd and 1st next year for one of our 1st's I'd jump on it again!

LOL, I didn't even make that far down since this mock really utilizes ones imagination ability. It is one thing to predict picks, but when you start talking about draft trades it makes it insane.
To be honest, I would like to have two 2nd rounders than one 1st. This class is a bit deeper and we can still pick up quality players in the second. Unlike last year.

I'd rather draft Quincy Carter in the 2nd round (AGAIN) then to draft Jamaal Charles in the 2nd.

I hate the sooners with a passion. I'm a notre dame fan that likes all texas teams (as long as they aren't playing ND).
Charles is just WAY overrated.

Some of you guys must have some magical insight that scouts don't have to rationalize your hatred for Jamaal Charles. It's obviously not based on production (or reality), so I wonder where it comes from.

Many scouts are saying Charles is a track guy playing runningback and fumbles too much to boot; 3rd round pick. The hate is probably from taking him that high.
Edit: Just looking at a couple sites, several have mentioned he might be better in situational roles or as a WR if his hands check out at the combine. Hardly a glowing endorsement for a starting runningback you expect in the 2nd.

From having watched Charles a bit I think he just seems as a faster version of Cedric Benson, honestly.
