Default Nebraska Mom Taught 4-Year-Old Lesson in Marijuana, Police Say

Saturday, February 23, 2008

OMAHA, Neb. — Police say a 4-year-old girl demonstrated to them how to smoke marijuana from a joint, a pipe and a bong — and learned the techniques from her mother.

The mother, 25-year-old Lisa Schuchard, is charged with child abuse and could lose her daughter after being accused of teaching and encouraging the girl to smoke.

Her attorney, Douglas County Assistant Public Defender Doug Johnson, said he would not comment because he hadn't talked to Schuchard in depth.

Authorities say Child Protective Services received a complaint that the 4-year-old and a 2-year-old son of Schuchard were dirty and living in a filthy home that had drug paraphernalia around.

Police say the daughter told officers that Schuchard and her live-in boyfriend would offer her and her brother the marijuana, then laugh with friends when they smoked. Authorities say the children have been placed in foster care.

Opinion

I have an Aunt who taught this to all 3 of her kids. She grouses that none of them can hold a job or a steady relationship and end up at home with her every year.

Duh.

What if she were giving the children alcohol? It would be the same thing but much more harmful.

So I've heard. I don't agree. I've seen it literally destroy lives all around me. The excuses just don't fly with me.

Yes it would be just as bad. IMO there really is no difference in alcohol and marijuana. Both impair your thought process. The difference is right now weed is illegal. That doesnt mean a parent should give alcohol to a child.

It's NOT the MJ that's the problem...it's the person...or parents.

Just like it's NOT the gun that's the problem...it's the person.

Right?

I was just pointing out like the gun people do that don't blame the drug...blame the people who take it.

Because if it wasn't MJ...it would be alcohol...cocaine...heroin...crack...meth...

I used to know a woman who would let her 5y/o son get high with her. I was real young then, but I still didn't get why.
I have signatures turned off.

SIG PIC THANKS TO JUKE!
