America is on the verge of an election that will decide who the leader of the free world is for the next 4 years in which we will choose between a woman who's political strategy involves attacking everyone from her competitors to James Madison, a black socialist named Hussein, and a former POW who has lost more than a few marbles and tows whichever party line gets him the most votes.

I don't think this is what Washington and Jefferson had in mind. Unfortunatly, the grueling process keeps the best and brightest Americans from ever making a run at the presidency anymore. I'll be voting for McCain as he is the best smelling turd in the toilet, but damn....this race makes Bush vs Kerry look like a heavyweight title fight.

I don't think they envisioned supplanting imperial Great Britain as the "leader" of the world or becoming like the Old European powers vying for world domination. There's a reason the militia was favored over a standing professional army for first few generations of our nation's history--it provided adequate defense without tempting presidents to embroil the country in foreign, offensive adventures.

OK, so whenever you hear the term "Leader of the free World", you think we are trying to take over the world or something?

Being the "Leader" means being the best. Doing it the right way. Providing a model for others to follow.

Leadership.

Why is that so hard for some people to bestow upon the only country that has those qualities?

Not sure what you are referring to in the end of the thread about beard lengths but as far as your reply to one of the posters, let me ask you this.

If we are not the best country on the planet, why are millions of people taking their lives in their hands to come here illegally?

They come through scorching desert heat and also freezing temps at night.

They set sail on tiny rafts for weeks on end hoping to float ashore in America.

They come here for the best medical services on the planet.

You talk about poverty, but we have the wealthiest poor people in the world. They are GIVEN food stamps, money for utility bills, free medical coverage, rebates on taxes they don't pay.

You think our poverty stricken people are so bad, go to the projects and look around. Sure there are some people really struggling, but look at the number of fine rides outside those projects. How about checking out the number of satellite dishes on the roofs.

We have the strongest military in the world. We have the brightest minds not only in this country, but they are COMING here for more education.

We have the ability to sit down when we are 12 years old and say, I want to be an astronaut and have the opportunity to achieve that. Kids in other countries are doomed at 12 years old to spend their lives in a sweat shop working for .50 a day. Our children have the best opportunities in the world.

Why do you see so many Middle Eastern doctors over here? Because we have the finest medical facilities in the world. They come here because they want to be the best. In order to do that, you have to be where the best is.

If Brady could swap his stats for the Super Bowl win, don't you think he would?
