Obama sure explained it better 4 years ago...
It's a video from 4 years ago on the Charlie Rose show where he outlines the same thing he was talking about recently that drew all the controversy. He sure explains it a lot better here.

Please, you think people go to church or go hunting because they are bitter? Obama yaks about being the candidate of change and the truth is he is the same old liberal that has been around for years and this ideal he will bring the country together is BS. No doubt liberals love him but I don't think most of America is liberal elitist.

Oddly enough fox news sent a reporter to Allentown PA and interviewed some people. They did not get the answers or reactions they expected.
The one guy I seen agreed with what Obama said even when they kept asking him. Guy said he would not be voting for Obama but agreed with it and he was a 30 year resident of the town.

I don't really have that much of a problem with the "bitter" part of his remarks... I've been in Allentown and I'd be bitter too if I lived there.
What I have a problem with is his dismissing the deeply-held beliefs that middle-Americans have about religion and guns and what have you as simply being by-products of them being bitter.
That's very condescending and unbecoming of someone who would call himself a "uniter."

Hey...you got problems...go to allentown and tell the guy that agrees with him that he does not know what he is talking about. I mean I am sure those that have not lived there for 30+ years can tell the guy he is wrong and what he should think.

I agree. People feeling bitter is understandable but to say people cling to religion or guns or anti-immigration because they are bitter is a slap. People go to church because they believe and have done so in good time and bad, same with hunting people do it because they love it not because they are bitter.

Actually I think those people do cling to church and anti-immigration because of it. The gun part I think is laughable instead in part with anti-immigration he should have said anti-out sourcing.
People go to church many times for many things, but when you are down and out I think many more will go for spiritual guidance during a tough spot of their lives. Those that thing illegal immigrants are taking their jobs will also be bitter towards that aspect. However like I said, the out sourcing issue was not mentioned and that should be part of it.
I have known many people that really did not go to church until something bad hit them, whether it be injuries, illnesses or other problems that hit them.
Personally I hear many people talk about how they are so tired of the PC crowd, yet they too cry when something happens that they don't fall in line with...I think this is a prime example.

He talked about small town America that is more than just Allentown and no most people don't go to church out of bitterness they go in good time and bad. Throwing his political BS is what this is all about. This is the man who talks of change and bringing people together BS all he is doing to dividing people more and more with his statements!!! As for PC correctness this has nothing to do with that I'm not telling Obama not to say this he can say what he wants and the more he does the more people will know allot more about him and his liberal elitist views so.

I think "Bitter-Gate" is going to result in a big Pennsylvania bounce for Hillary. I expect to see polls very soon that have her recapturing some of her lost momentum.
She's still toast as a candidate, but I think she'll win big in PA because of this and that will give her campaign the legs it needs to move forward (short stubby little legs).

Maybe her cankles will get bigger from all the shots and beer she was drinking in a recent campaign visit. Oh there is another thing some bitter people turn to, alcohol and drugs. I would say church again but I don't want to offend the anti-pc...PC crowd.

I'm not looking for PC I'm listening to what he is say or I guess we just don't listen to what he says because he sounds good saying it? Please you want to spin for Obama go for it but the man continues to make comments are offensive to many. But hey he is all about change from politics as usual right? Looks like the same liberal BS that others have laid at the feet of voters.

People in small towns in PA are PO'd over his comments and Clinton's going to get a bump from this.
I think we all know what happened; Obama was fundraising from the most liberal elitists in the country in San Francisco. He said what he thought he had to say to get them to open their wallets, playing on everything they hold in distain; God, guns and alleged racism. He thought he covered his butt by blaming economic conditions not the people but it didn't come across that way.
As someone in small town PA who is active in his church, owns firearms and is very anti-illegals (that happens when one butchers one of your daughter's friend's grandfathers in cold blood), I can honestly say that I know a lot of people like me and I don't know of very many bitter ones.
A lot are apathetic because they feel that the Democrats only care about the poor and the Republicans only help the uber-wealthy so no one cares about them in the middle class but that's a different argument.
