Per Romo, he usually makes 3 reads and each read requires him to shift and then set to get max strength/accuracy on each throw. But Romo thinks he should be able to stand in one position, make all 3 reads w/o moving his feet around so much. This would keep his feet "quiet" as he calls it so, in addition to getting the ball out quicker, he stays in his 7 step drop (or 3 or 5) & he's where his OL expects him to be for max protection & he also doesn't feel pressure earlier then necessary. Obviously in changing his stance, he's also worked to ensure he still can make all the throws accurately from the various positions/planes he has in [View Full Quote]the past. Also he mentioned he was working on changing his throwing motion to give him more power in his throws; apparently he stopped doing that when he finally accepted that he had greater power in his arm but lost some of his accuracy. Also in there somewhere he was working to improve his quick release which NFLN clocked last year at 2.6 compared to Marino's 3.0. According to Collingsworth, Marino generally considered to have quickest release in football but Romo's is even faster.

very insightful. Are you a football coach? From your explanation, I can visualize now what Romo was talking about "standing tall". This posture also helps him rotate his hips quicker and generate more power in his throws. The power generation in a golf swing comes from the rotation of the hips and I think this is where Romo's golf playing also helps him.

"On the first day of training camp, the Cowboys unveiled the newest tactic by their genius offensive coordinator, Jason Garrett .. Two quarterbacks pointed in different directions .. ironically, the above picture resulted in a running play. I guess that's why he's the genius."
