Step Brothers
I'm surprised no one has made a thread talking about this movie.
I went opening night and again on Saturday with my brother. This has got to be Will Ferrell's best movie to date. From almost the first minute to the closing credits, don't leave when they start to roll, is a non-stop laugh fest. There was only one part of the movie that dragged in my opinion but I won't talk about it since it'll spoil part of the plot.
Has anyone else gone to see this yet?

One of the reviews I read said that they have a lot of chemistry and that while there are your typically over the top unfunny moments, that there are several laugh out loud scenes...

I'll go see it at some point.
I liked Ferrell in Anchorman and Blades of Glory, but I thought the basketball movie he did last year was lame.

I chose to go see Pineapple Express instead. Very disapponted with PE. It had its moments, but nothing special at all.

I thought Semi-Pro was actually pretty funny. The whole $10,000 basket had me on the floor.

The weak previews had me worried about that movie.

Saw it tonight with my wife.
Was expecting it to be the typical comedy where all the funny stuff from the commercials is gone in the first five minutes. We seriously laughed from start to finish. As mentioned it slows down a little in the middle, but overall I'd rate it very highly.

Exactly and they didn't try to shoehorn a real plot into the movie. A lot of comedies ditch the funny stuff to try and fit a real "story" in there so that it can end. This movie didn't do that. Funny stuff.

I dunno, it just seems like Will Ferrell being Will Ferrell. He doesnt even have to act any more, he just has an assembly line of movies coming out at least twice a year where he plays basically the same person....over and over and over again.

I thought it was crap. Some funny stuff yes, but it got old quick. Ferrell, IMO, needs to get outside his box and do something a little different.

Them referencing the Hulk and not Batman and Robin had to have been the final straw.

No, that was the best part!
OLD SCHOOL is his best. Anyway...
Hey, don't kill the messenger, it's gotten KILLED by the critics -- it's like 10% on ROTTEN TOMATOES. Here's a sign y'all of a movie that sucks: no press screening or it's screened late on a Thursday. And there was none in Houston so that's why I didn't see it early or review it. But if I DID, I would have given it a D+. WF is GOOD, but he needs to do something different, IMO.
But as always, art is subjective. I don't begrudge anyone that likes it.
