Question American Pastime?

With the advancements and progressions in the NFL over the past 20 years, would you consider Football the "New American Pastime"? Or do you still believe that honor belongs to Baseball?

Personally, I say Football.

I think theres to much baseball that is played and not enough football to where baseball will always be the sport that people can sit back and listen to the radio and the tv regardless of what day it is or where they are, so no its still baseball

Baseball should be 3 innings...............enough said.

I'm not pointing fingers, but I'd say negativity and whining are the number one American past times. If you think I'm wrong just browse a little more... you'll see.

Is there an echo in here, or did you just say the exact same thing I did.

Just based on my friends and family, football dominates baseball.

JMO but baseball is sliding in popularity do to two things. 1. It's boring and takes to long to play a game. 2. Post-season games are played too late at night causing the younger fans to miss the best time of the baseball year.

This is a team who is battling several major injuries to
key players including Pro Bowl talents like Lee, Austin, Jenkins, Murray,
Carter and Ratliff. Other key starters missing include Costa, Smith, Church and
Coleman. That is 11 key players - that's half the starting lineup. Yet we still went 8-8.

I love baseball but in 50 yrs it will probably be obsolete. Kids rarely play it anymore. When I was young, we would all head down to the field and play baseball until dark. Now parents won't let their kids step outside alone much less let them stay gone all day playing ball. This year my grandsons league had two teams disband during the season because the kids and coaches would not show up to play. The kids that do play today don't have the passion for it that we all had. The talent base will eventually erode and the game wil play out. Baseball has seen its best time and will never be what it was....

Baseball, Hockey, Nascar bore me to death. I would rather watch a few minutes of golf, poker or even fishing shows over those three.

Basketball...Well I quit watching it because of some things in the 90's that turned me against it, however I will still watch some WVU basketball and some of the NCAA tourney.

Football however is the be all end all of my sports love. Nothing comes remotely close to College and NFL football in my eyes.

I think the funniest commercial I saw was when it was talking about baseball being America's pastime and with the camera panning the players on the field, all the names on the back of the jerseys were gonzales, martinez, etc.

Not trying to make this thread political, just thought the commercial was hilarious.
Thank you to all donated to the Jason Witten Camp drive!

IMO, most games you watch live is exciting...on TV live...not so much. I love hockey, but only when I watch it in person.

I hate baseball though. Not a fan of tennis either.

Anyone have any number's on how many people attend the average FB game both college and Pro vs. Baseball College and Pro?

To me that would be the telling factor.

my opinion is it's not even close,

Football is the Game of America and it is America's pastime.
