The thing about the debates, though, ... I think much of the public doesn't look at the content of what's said. Many times, it's the perception that matters to them.

Biden will likely come off looking like an arrogant jerk ... knowledgeable, but a condescending arse.

Gore talked circles around W Bush in 2000, but like Dennis Miller said, nobody likes a know-it-all.

We'll see. Biden's never really distinguished himself as a debater. He'll almost certainly be a more polished debater, but that doesn't mean everything. It's more about the impression you make, and I'd give Palin a solid edge there.

Remember, everyone said that Gore would clean Bush's clock in the debates and Bush pretty much won the election by winning every single debate... not so much on the issues but on coming across as the more likable candidate.

Biden's going to have to walk a fine line in the VP debate or he could come across like a totally pompous arse.
