exhibit A as to why we need to elect McCain
btw, Putin will eat Obama's lunch. The only thing most leaders respect is negotiating from a position of strength. They dont give a crap how "popular" someone is or how great of an "orator" someone is. Obama is going to cut defense spending in half and has stated very cavalier like that he would meet with anyone and everyone without preconditions.

Wow, that article was an exercise in hyperbole and hubris, how dare the United States honor its own sovereignty before the ill-informed opinions of Europe.
It amuses me how he considers the USA the leader of the free world; why does he want us to lead it if he thinks we are so incompetent?

We have had Canadian on here all the time saying virtually the same things-what else would you expect from European socialists who think Chamberlin was right after all.

I have a better idea that would have more impact.
Why don't we say to the rest of the world,"Hey do it our way or we will kill you!"?
I mean, why not. The rest of the World seems to think we give a flying rat's rear end who they think we should elect. God these people are some of the most asinine people on the planet.

Has it occurred to them that we've elected Dem presidents in the past (not to mention the current Dem-controlled Congress) without their encouragement, help, or threats?

Putin has already eaten President Bush's lunch over the whole Georgia fiasco, with Obama he will eat his lunch, turn over the dinner table, and kick the dog on the way out. Obama is not a man of strength at all.

Curious as to how Putin has "Eaten' Bush's lunch" on the Georgia thing. Bush has put it in Putin's face with proceeding with the missile defense program in Europe. To me it simply looks like Putin is throwing a tantrum over it.

Georgia was a staunch ally of America on the war in terror in Iraq. When Putin invaded Georgia, we sat by and did nothing. The Georgians were under the impression that we would help them against Russian aggression. Now the President did get the better of Putin on the Ukraine, but Georgia which is a democracy is now under control of the Russians. I guess I see the Ukraine and Georgia as two different issues. Hopefully the US at least sends in some special forces unit to try and help the Georgians defend themselves since it is becoming evident that we will not send in our military to act as peacekeepers.

I see what you mean. Though, I'm not sure what we could have done without risking a large scale military offensive against the Russians.

US is sending aid and the Russians are watching as we do, we have ships in the region so I would not say we are doing nothing. We are not going to send in combat troops at this stage.

The machismo culture among conservatives is really interesting. I wonder if it has to do with the distaste among conservatives for all the closet gay people in the Republican party.
