Default What you can expect with the Democrats in charge

Brace yourself... once Obama wins and the Democrats strengthen their majorities in both Houses... Barney Frank gives us a glimpse into what direction he and his friend Barack will go.

Here's the Cliff's Notes: more spending, bigger deficits, higher taxes.

I think my video sums up what we'll be getting no matter who is in charge.

In case you haven't realized it yet... Obama is much more liberal than Bill Clinton.

And with guys like Barney Frank whispering in his ear, he's bound to be even worse.

I expect within a year of Obama in office I will be considered a rich man and will pay the tax to prove it.

You mean, unlike the present crew? More spending, bigger deficits? Hmn, we seem to be doing that gangbusters right now. How can taxes not go up? We've been using the national credit card for the last 8 years.

Tax on 5% when 95% will get tax refunds and the fact is 95% of the people do not pay federal taxes. Should those who do not pay taxes get tax refunds? In the meantime adding taxes to business do not encourage hiring of people it encourages business to cut back. I agree that we must get spending under control by freezing money on some programs and cutting budgets of others.

I don't think anybody really knows what will happen over the next 4 years.

All we do know is that McCain's policies are very similiar to the current admin's.......and we also know where we are at the moment.

The Dems are idiots for not exposing this fact more.

then if this is the problem you wish to fix, you also seem to admit obama's policies will contribute to this problem.

why would you then be for obama if for no other reason than he's not bush?

if taxes go up to pay debt, many less complain. but that's not what he's doing, is it? pointing to BAD BUSH!!! is worthless when the one you back is even worse. so they both suck.

now what?

Why should anybody think that McCain will do anything different than Bush? Look where that's gotten us.

Who cuts taxes during Wars? Telling people to keep shopping has turned into an epic failure. Look at the debt out there. Its out of control. Now maybe we all go socialist like Alaska, and let the Gov't own everything.....and give all of us a few thousand bucks every year. But, only the folks in the anti-american parts of america would support that.

I think that there is a significant difference between McCain and Bush in that McCain's plan is to freeze current taxation while reducing spending in Government. That is a difference in the two policies.

I think if theTrillion dollars we've blown in Iraq, etc had been spent in the USA, on infrastructure and internal investment, we would not be in quite the mess we are now.

I think the Republicans have shown that, despite their self labeling as 'fiscal conservatives', they really just wanted to get their snouts into the pig trough.

I do think that if the Dems get in, and show the same levels of hubris and arrogance that the Repubs had in 2000, that we will all suffer. And they will come crashing down in four years. McCain has embraced those same arrogant Repub zealots in his presidential run. If you think they did such a good job the last 8 years, you should vote for him.

Given the two choices, I think the best chances of a president who will thoughtfully start to fix the problems that country finds itself in is in the Obama court. The odds are not good with either candidate, but I see way less of a chance of it with McCain.

Why would you not consider the efforts of the recent Congress and base opinions off of that? It would seem prudent to do so. To say that it is all the fault of the Republican party is, of course, your right. However, why would you not conceed the fact that the majority of spending over the last 2 years has been driven by a Democratic Congress and take some measure of what could come in future? There is no question, at all, that Mr. Obama's current fiscal spending plans far exceed current budgets by a substantial amount. There is no plan, that I know of, to generate additional funding except to increase taxes. Why would you say that McCain's plan has less chance of Success?

but we still have to finish iraq. and many who clamor "bad iraq" have said time and again going after bin laden would have been ok. i can't invision spending less $ on that effort but it would have been done in a technical void, if at all. did you ever say you'd have supported going after bin laden?

if so, your argument is void or now into question simply because we'd likely have spent the same amount there *and* have less influence in iran - a bigger problem overall.

catch 22's suck and our president had to deal with a lot of them that i can only hope our next one does not.

stay after bin laden and maybe get him, maybe not. spend billions in trying.
or
keep after bin laden on a low profile and get saddam out and put us in a better position w/iran.

please, no WMD argument. you win. he lied.

but are we or are we not in a better position to deal with iran because of this effort?

i have no faith obama can fix anything. not saying he's bad/better/worse/neutral over mccain. i don't think he could either.

but i do think we can *all* do more to advance and protect our own country if we can quit this divide we put into our society and act like a country more than a few minutes after a crisis.
