I'm looking at safeties that will complement Roy Williams talents, you know more of the speedy ballhawk instead of the run stuffing Safety.
Here are two great candidates.

Michael Huff

Official Bio College: Texas Height: 6-1
Position: Safety Weight: 200
Class: Junior 40-Yard: 4.45
SCOUTING REPORT
Strengths: Great size and solid build...Excellent athletic ability...Good speed...Physical and aggressive...Has a nose for the ball...Versatile and has played both cornerback and safety well for the Longhorns...Playmaker with a knack for taking interceptions to the house.
Weaknesses: Has been shuffled around and hasn't been able to concentrate on just one position...Needs to refine his technique...Gambles a little too much in an effort to make the big play.
Notes: Follows in the footsteps of Bryant Westbrook, Quentin Jammer and Nathan Vasher as top Texas defensive backs...Intriguing player who will be a top prospect at either corner or safety when he comes out.

Josh Bullocks

Official Bio College: Nebraska Height: 6-0
Position: Safety Weight: 205
Class: Junior 40-Yard: 4.55
SCOUTING REPORT
Strengths: Very productive...Has a nose for the ball...Excels in coverage...Good athlete...Very smart...A ballhawk and a playmaker.
Weaknesses: Only average versus the run...Will take too many risks in an effort to make the big play...Solid speed, but not special.
Notes: Has a twin brother Daniel who also starts in the Cornhusker secondary...The type of safety who will be a staple of the highlight shows because of his knack for making the big play.

I think Michael Huff (ranked 65th out of 100)gets the edge because of his speed. But Bullocks (ranked 83rd out of 100)would do well next to Roy, too!

betcha that the name Hunter ends up starting at safety next year if Woodson's done....

I don't think I'll take that bet.

I seriously forgot Hunter was an option (though I don't think he's the best one).

I like both those guys, especially Bullocks. He led the nation in INT last year under the Bo Pellini system that kept him playing centerfield. The kid takes great position on the field and reacts well to the ball in the air.

The nice thing is Callaghan's defensive system has sucked so bad this year Bullocks may fall off some team's charts. Maybe he'll even fall to us in the 3rd round?

Oh, wait...

I really want us to take a safety or two in the draft and move Roy down to LB personally. Also 1 or 2 safeties in FA.

Just imagine drafting Derrick Johnson and putting him close to the line with Roy... Woe is our opposition.

But the advantage of having Roy as a safety means that he scares living daylights out of the WR's while at the same time is an integral part of Dallas' 4-4 scheme.

Yeah, but scaring receivers only works when the QB sets them up for the big hit. Working well in space is what I prefer in a safety, Roy struggles more than I thought he would with this. He also tends to take bad angles the more space he works in (see Cinncy TE TD, oy).

I think he doesn't have confidence in his acceleration and hits top speed before he needs to. If he would stay under control a little longer and then hit the gas he'd not have so many bad angle plays. Just a theory...

If he's at LB he can react and fly. Put his helmut though a guy and dominate.

Brodney Poole from OU would be nice too but all 3 are likely to stay this year and be high 1st rounders next year.
