To be honest, there is a lot of boring, empty country between those two.

The Corn Palace is in Mitchell, SD.

The Black Hills area in South Dakota would be worth visiting. It is pretty touristy around Mount Rushmore, but if you haven't seen it, it is worth stopping by. Deadwood, Devil's Tower and the Badlands are all in the area as well.

When are you going? Sturgis Rally is the first week in August.

Depending upon your route, you might drive by the Little Bighorn Battlefield (Custer's Last Stand). However, unless you are a huge history buff, I've never thought it was particularly interesting.

You might also want to consider just getting from WI to MT as quick as possible and see if you can spend some time in Glacier National Park as well. Glacier is amazing. Its about 6 hours from the Gardiner entrance at Yellowstone and you drive through some beautiful country between the two.
