Default Flatbed Part2 this time a Wreck

The Distraction

Take 1

Action!!!

Scene 1

This is when my driver realized a "Truck" was coming towards him, or he realized, oh #%*@!!! I'm driving off the freaken road. As you can see he hit the brakes, only one set of skid marks on road, I guess he was half on half off?? Hmmm...

Scene 2

His best bet would have been to drive off into the field, instead he tried to get her back on the road. The side of the shoulder is torn up here.

Scene 3

More of the side of the shoulder. You can see one of the posts he knocked down from the street sign and a hole in the ground.

Scene 4

The same shoulder, here you can see the other post from one of the signs he knocked down.

Scene 5

Moving closer to the edge.

Scene 6

Here he is starting back to the road from the shoulder, you can see the marks he left on the road as he headed towards the other ditch on the opposite side of the road.

Midway

A close up of when he ran over the chicken that was crossing the road.. LOL!!!
Ok here is the midway point of the incident. He almost hit that telephone pole. You can see part of the ditch on the opposite side of the road there.

Scene 7

Close to the pole.

Scene 8

The ditch across the road.

Scene 9

The second ditch, those tires dug deep.

Scene 10

I'm surprised he didn't flip at this point. Granted he could have rolled the first time he drove off the road, but this side is much deeper.

Scene 11

Opposite view of where he came out of.

Scene 12

Just an overview of the second ditch incident.

Damage 1

Very minimal, he bent the right side of the rack for the ramps.

Damage 2

Scratches

Damage 3

The step is bent, this must be the part that un-earthed 2 street signs.

Damage 4

Cracked the fiberglass, broke off some chunks.

Damage 5

More broken fiberglass.

Damage 6

Just another view.

Damage 7

Busted the hood mirrors and the arms.

I spoke to the manager of the mobile home community and she said she saw a bunch of dirt fill the sky, the janitor said he heard a very loud commotion.

The more I think about this the more I'm convinced this guy got distracted by his freaken dog, like some people get distracted by the radio or the cell phone. Then all of a sudden he realized there was a curve and he was heading off it. That's why when he finally hit the brakes (See 1st picture) there was only one set of skid marks on the road. He was already off the road when he realized what was transpiring. Still his best bet would have been to just continue driving straight into the field at that point....

Picture from Scene 1

Another Angle of the skid mark

I probably should have taken pictures of the skid mark on the shoulder, it just didn't stand out so much...

I know, right.

My brother drives trucks and he's been involved in a couple incidents. Mostly while backing up. And while I know he doesn't do long hauls anymore, it still bothers me when I hear about trucks flipping over.
Thank you to all donated to the Jason Witten Camp drive!

How would you invent ice cream cones if gravity went the opposite way?

My father was a truck driver, long haul and dump trucks, for most of his life and most of the accident he had we due to people not knowing big trucks don't stop on a dime when loaded.

I wish he was still around but he was about 120lbs. Old age finally caught up to him in 2007.
