Default Winning the perceptions battle...

Public still sky-high on Obama 'brand'
By BEN SMITH | 2/14/09 6:55 PM EST

With Barack Obama’s victory in passing a massive stimulus package marred by days of bad press — as not a single House Republican backed the bill, his health czar went down in flames and his second pick for commerce secretary walked away — the administration has been cut down to size, and lost some of its bipartisan sheen.

Such, at least, has been the beltway chatter, but so far the numbers don’t back it up.

Obama’s approval rating remains well above 60 percent in tracking polls. A range of state pollsters said they’d seen no diminution in the president’s sky-high approval ratings, and no improvement in congressional Republicans’ dismal numbers.

Obama pushed through his stimulus package after a bruising fight with the GOP, and emerges as the nonpartisan in the court of public opinion... meanwhile, that same court judges the GOP as being obstructionists...

By now, we should have figured out that Barry is very, very good at the political game, but even his detractors have to admit this was deftly played...

OK, they probably WON'T admit it, but deep down, they know it's true...

Obama is having strings pulled behind him

He went double down and all-In on the same hand......We have not yet seen the "river card"........that will be flipped inside 1 yr......

If this Generational Theft act of 2009 does not show results in 6 to 9 months he will come under fire from all sides.....

Funny thing about Libs.....he wants to create jobs, get business hireing......but on the other hand the Libs prevent Walmart (one of few businesses doing business) from building 5 new stores in Chicago city limits......Lib's not only stopping business, but preventing jobs to exactly those they claim to want to help most.....hypocrisy or just dependency?

Its the one law Libs break all the time: law of unintended consequenses.....

Fannie Mae classic case..........same w/ DDT.......one broke millions, the other killed millions......

Yeah DDT. Was all those birds worth the millions of human dead due to malaria over the last 30 years?

This is true... I'll go you one step further; if the stimulus bill works as planned, Obama will easily win reelection, and if it bombs, he'll be run out of office...

I think that's fair...

Even the MFI (Malaria Foundation International) supports the eventual global ban of DDT.

Problem is, if it bombs---He will be taking steps to "consolidate" his power---but that of course is what this legislation is all about--increase the number of dependents on the state: "Never Waste a Crisis"

If govt Stimulus spending worked: then Fannie Mae would have been the end all needed. Then the Trillions GW is critized for would have been the cure all..........They are all essentially Stimulus spending.----all have done nothing but push USA toward the cliff....

Free Market Capitalism is what got this country to the top......lack of it will bring it to its knees, faster than anyone can imagine.

It will bomb.
It has been tried before, and failed before.
This is not a stimulus bill,it's a power grab like no other.
