Thanks for taking the time to have a look. I know what you mean about some shots being more interesting than others. I could probably pick out the less interesting ones. Unfortunately, when you take a photo every day you don't always feel like doing it!

Thanks very much, it's something I've been meaning to try for a while now so I thought I'd make a New Year's resolution out of it. I'm actually surprised I've managed to stick at it. Hopefully I can manage to do the full year!

wasn't meant as a criticism. must feel like a chore a lot of the time but theres some cracking pics in there. i liked the one of the straws but i'm kinda scared to ask what you were thinking when you came up with the idea

They are nice pics. I have to look back through the archives more to catch up. Great idea!

It's alright, I didn't think it was.

Yeah, the straws. I just wanted to do something kinda abstract and so had a hunt about the house to find something I could shoot in such a way that people wouldn't know what it was.

elfy, nice job. I enjoyed the gallery, and I really like the light trail pics. I've never seen them done quite like that. You've inspired me to pull out the old Nikon D50, and experiment. What kind of light are you using for these pics?

Thanks very much. Yeah, those ones seem to be quite popular. So much so that I had a go at another one for the latest photo. They're quite simple to do but involve a lot of trial and error when doing the actual trails themselves. Light is provided by one of these:

I use the flashlight pointed from various angles to light the scene and then unscrew the top to reveal the bare bulb in order to do the light trails. Taken with a long exposure (generally 15-30 seconds) the various shots are then blended together in Photoshop.

Now that is dedication! I'll see if I can manage a year first and then we'll take it from there!

That's a freaking great idea! I might try this, maybe do a picture every day after I turn 25 to document my 25th year. The pictures are amazing too.

If no one minds I'd like to post weekly updates here on what I've been shooting? I'd hate to annoy anyone with it so let me know if I am.

Another week complete. A week dominated by landscapes as it happens. Also, a still life of my dinner (inspiring stuff, I know), a shot of my wife with the dog, and the return of the light trail stick dudes!

Cool.

Time for another update then.

A week dominated by still-life shots as it happens with a couple of portraits thrown in too - my own ugly mug being one of them!

Hey guys,

more still life stuff this week, along with another self-portrait, a photo of the cinema in Glasgow, and of course the dog.

Have a look, comment, abuse, ignore....whatever you like really.
