thinking of joining the Navy reserves
I want to be a K-9 cop, but with my history, (no convictions for anything, but I do have an arrest record) I think it would be best to start out as a Navy cop as a reservist, and then apply to join the city police
I was also thinking about becoming an intelligence specialist, as I am pretty computer savvy, and once I get out I could get into a lucrative career in the IT industry
anybody ever been a reservist of any branch, and have some opinions/objections/support?

I think you would be better served by joining the Military full time vs being a reservist. (that is, if you are going to join at all)
My father (retired) and two of my brothers are Navy. My uncle (retired) and his son are Marines.
Formerly the notorious nyc!
I've got more red flags than Soviet Russia!
There is a good chance that you don't like me, but there is a better chance that I don't care.
If I'm not insulting you, I'm probably not aware that you exist.
Jerry Jones in the draft room is suicide on the football field. The line of scrimmage is EVERYTHING. Something Jerry doesn't understand.

All branches are having trouble with getting recruits these days. I doubt an arrest record will stop you. Hell the Army took Rack.

I'm talking about becoming a city cop, I'm probably not the ideal candidate for them right out of the gate
no doubt I could get into the military, the Marines accepted me 4 years ago, I wasn't ready then though, and chickened out last minute

Full time training, and real world work experience. Not to mention, you will meet a lot of people from all over and get to see many parts of the world when your based on a ship.
My brothers loves and hates going to sea. He said it's the best part of being in the Navy, but also doesn't like it because in many ways you are cut off from a lot of freedoms you have while not on a ship. Of course, you aren't *always* on a ship.

While the Military needs Marines, that is one branch I would avoid like the plague! Of course, thats just me. There are *some types* out there that the Marines are the way to go. Judging by what I know of you, you're not a Marine.

I would imagine the service time would out weigh your record. I don't know that for sure just a hunch.
