The Non Sequitur Thread...
I thought a non sequitur thread would be a nice change from the joke and video threads.
Non Sequitur: A thought that does not logically follow what has just been said: “We had been discussing football, so her remark about taking out the trash was a real non sequitur.” Non sequitur is Latin for “It does not follow.”
I'll start.
With all the great grade's Jr. is getting in school, we'll just have to start making him mow the lawn during the Cowboys games on Sunday as punishment.

I really enjoy the picture in your sig so the berries on the bush outside my window are red.
Bob Sacamano finally made an appearance; consequently, the party immediately became lame. (This, of course, is a non sequitur because nothing in which Bob Sacamano is involved can be lame due to his innate awesomeness.)
"Many of the greatest things man has achieved are not the result of consciously directed thought, and still less the product of a deliberately coordinated effort of many individuals, but of a process in which the individual plays a part which he can never fully understand." - Friedrich Hayek

If a tree falls in the woods, and no one is there to hear it, is the Pope still taking a crap? Is the bear still Catholic?
The best "non sequitur's" are when, you're confronting someone about their mis-deed, and their response is "ME??? What about them???" Hey, we're NOT TALKING ABOUT THEM now, we're talking about YOU!!!" Pointing out some one else's misbehaviour does not exhonerate YOUR duty to be a stand up guy.
Polititians do this as a matter of fact. You point out anything about a Democrat, and they bring up a mis-deed by a Republican. And vice-versa. Pointing out to another's failure does not absolve YOU from your responsibility in doing the right thing. It's a non-sequitur and irrelevant. YOU MADE A VOW and a promise to "uphold" whatever. Whatever the "other guy" does or doesn't do, doesn't get YOU off the hook in fulfilling YOUR promise.
Marriage. That's another one. "I'll do right as a wife as long as HE does this or that". "I'll do the husband thing, as long as SHE does the wife thing". Your marriage will never work like that. That's the business world. "I'll scratch your back as long as you scratch mine". That's not a marriage.
It's a non-sequitur. A condition that has nothing to do with the other. YOU made a PROMISE and a VOW. And whether SHE EVER LIVES UP to her end of the bargain, YOU MADE A VOW!! HER TOO!!
Anyway, just thinking out loud.....................

Actually, that's a "two wrongs make a right" fallacy, and is why I'm going to eat a milkshake right now.
