What is the purpose for people creating computer viruses in the 1st place?

What does it accomplish?

Just satisfactory in pwning someone?

Pretty much or being able to access someones computer to get personal info like CC #'s or passwords.

Viruses have different uses. Some are to create botnets, others are just to see how far they can spread, others are just about tools they can use for personal game, and then yes, there are those out there strictly about doing as much damage as possible.

There are a myriad of reasons people create them that I haven't listed.

To show they can do it. I just wish the courts would throw the book at these idiots along with the hackers. These viruses and hackers cost business millions of dollars every year

I'm convinced that the main reason for creating these CVs are to sell more CV Protection Licenses.

And so Apple can go well look Mac's don't have these problems, but look at all those virus's you will have to deal with in Windows.
