fairly random thread, to be honest i was half expecting a picture of nessie drinking whisky and playing the bagpipes.

Not really. The host family was a young couple who were standing there with their mouth hanging open, stammering a little.

My friend tried to explain that she was doing some homework and needed to start over on a math problem she was doing. Of course that finally brought the "Ohhhhhhhh, you mean an eraser" with a somewhat relieved look they shared.

It wasn't until later that she asked us what the odd looks were about that we explained what a rubber was. She was mortified. haha!
