You are not on the minority CC... if I ever have children... the first born will be named Landry... boy or girl... book it...

I used to write "Mr. Landry" letters as a child... and he answered many times...

I met him in person a few years before his death... he was gracious and classy as always... but I was taken aback at how muscular and strong he was... his forearms rivaled Popeye...

The NFL is a better league because of the likes of Tom Landry and his character...

For anyone not old enough to remember Mr. Landry I suggest finding some books on him. I think it's a must for any young Cowboys fan. Your perception of the Cowboys can't be accurate until you understand how great of a man he was. Here is a good book on him-->

The funny thing is; about a month ago I was at a half price book store. I saw Mr. Landry's autobiography on tape. I bought it for my 10 year old son to listen to. He listened to the entire tape without stopping. Now he wants to be the coach of the Cowboys when he grows up. He asked me if Coach Landry ever said bad words. I said, "Only when Danny messed up".

It took me some time to get around to posting on this thread. As trick will tell anyone, I was about the most bitter fan when Tom got fired and I hated everyone that did him wrong. You couldn't mention Jerry Jones or Jimmy Johnson around me without dying a thousand deaths through my eyes and getting an earful of bitter words.

Tom Landry was a wonderful faith based man. A true role model for the young and old alike. Sundays with my grandpa, watching the Cowboys being led by that great man are the most fondest of my childhood memories. I can't tell you how many times my grandpa would say... Now that man has class... or ... sugar pie, you watch really good because you are watching greatness, something you'll never see again after he's gone... or ... sugar, without Tom Landry, you wouldn't be watching the greatest players put together on one team--- or after Landry was fired... He wishes he was Landry or !@%*!@ that piece of !@%*! for firing our coach like that. My grandpa use to tell me over and over again how Tom Landry and a few of his boys came to the hospital to see me and other children when I was a baby and was recovering from brain surgery. He would beem when he told me how he would never forget Mr Landry holding me and saying a prayer for me when they were still unsure of whether I'd survive or not. He was a great man and a true gentleman with a huge heart.

I miss those magical days with my grandpa and Mr Landry. They are both gone now and I'm the only one left. Thank god I'm a Cowboys fan that was born in Dallas and raised in Irving. I got to grow up Cowboys and I got to have the special feeling of being in the inner circle of the fan base.

I always have been and always will be a hardcore Tom Landry fan..

RIP grandpa and Coach Landry, you are both dearly missed.

This is a great place to learn about Tom Landry if you weren't lucky enough to grow up in the Landry years or if you did and would like to take a walk down memory lane. It's a site dedicated to Coach Landry by the Dallas Morning News...

Wonderful post. Truly... Although I didn't have the same intimate contact that you had with Coach Landry, I felt much the same way when he was fired. As football fans, and fans of the Dallas Cowboys we are all better people having watched him led this team... I miss his class, his leadership and mostly just his presence. To this day whenever I watch the Dallas Cowboys I always think of my childhood and watching Tom Coach the Cowboys on an old Black and White TV with bad reception... Thank you again for your testimonial.

RIP Coach Landry, we miss you and love you.
