A Great Line For Dads Meeting Their Daughter's Guy
So I was goofing around on youtube and I came across the tribute to Johnny Cash that performing artists did after his death in 2003. One of those paying tribute was his ex-son-in-law Rodney Crowell. Rodney was married to Johnny's daughter Roseanne for many years. Before they got married though they lived together for a time.
Johnny summoned them to his home in Jamaica to discuss this. How would you like to be summoned to meet Johnny Cash to discuss having sex with his daughter? This was the man who wrote a lyric that said, "I shot a man in Reno, just to watch him die."
At the time Rodney and Roseanne were living in Los Angeles. They had a flight to Miami before connecting to Jamaica. Rodney described his consumption of Bloody Marys from LA to Miami, and then rum to Jamaica.
Sleeping arrangements were being made and Rodney announced to Johnny that he intended to share his bed with Roseanne just as they did in LA.
Johnny looked him in the eye and said, "boy I don't even know you well enough to miss you if you were gone."

Johnny was greatness... and given the fact he was a big man and a in his younger years, Crowell was smart not to try him...

I have told my daughter that I will ask two questions.
1) Boy, have you ever been shot?? (reply should be "No sir")
2) Want to keep it that way??

That's why they play the game

/yawn at over protective Fathers. Though I guess it really depends on the age of their daughter.
I had been dating my GF a year the first time I slept over at her father's house, and having sex with her the majority of that time. He was politely told (very respectfully mind you), that I was either sleeping in her bed with her, or she was sleeping in my bed with me that night, and we'd happily leave.
He's southern baptist, but luckily he's mature enough to realize that his 21 year old daughter was no virgin, and trying to keep us separate was just some lame desperate attempt at control. He's a cool guy tho, I get a long with him great.
I've never been intimated by a father before, then again I was 6'3 250 by age 19. Not that I'd ever fight my GF's dad, I like to think I'm a bit more mature than that =p
Anyhow. Johnny Cash owns.

I'd sleep with all your daughters with no compunction
provided that they are at least the legal age of consent

Until you have a daughter of your own. You have ZERO cred here.
Hope you realize that. How many kids do you have? hmm?

I've got a prayer on my desk. It says, "Dear Lord, I pray that my place will never be with the cold, timid souls who do not compete yet criticize, for they never know or feel success or failure."

Yawn at tough talking about over protective fathers. Have a daughter of your own and you will probably join the ranks of over protective fathers.
No one, and I mean no one, no matter how big and tough they are, or think they are, is going to come into my home and tell me where they are sleeping if they are not married to one of my two girls. I don't care if they knock knees regularly in their own homes. That is their house. They will respect the rules of my home, or the big bad tough guy won't need to even bother unpacking his suitcase. And he'd better have enough money for McDonalds or something else because I won't be feeding him either.
My home is always open, but not to anyone who thinks they are anything but a guest in my home and will abide by my rules.

I think a person would raise his daughters well enough not to date a ******.
A man's home is his castle. 20+ years of being around and hundreds of overnight stays and I still ask my father-in-law if I may have a beer or soda from his fridge. Plus it's his tv remote.

My girls are picky. I doubt I will ever have to worry about either of them.

My wife is due with our first daughter on Feb 17th.
I'm already having panic attacks worrying about boys.

Classic. Every girl's father I've ever met, I don't know what their first names were other than "sir". They were raising cane and raising hell long before I ever walked the Earth, and there isn't anything new under the stars in regards to men and women. The young fox can't get by and tell the old fox who owns the chicken coop that he doesn't plan to eat them chickens. Old fox knows better.

Just take the kid to your daughters room point to the bed and say...If you are found here at night, then point out the window and say...You will be found here in the morning. Have a nice stay.
