Bill Muir and the Tampa Bay offensive line...
Reading all the rumors that Bill Muir is the leading contender to become the Cowboys' next offensive line coach, I took a look at what he's done with the Bucs the last 2 years, since he joined their staff...
Looking at the big picture, it seems that he is not of the Hudson Houck "wide load" school of thought... rather, he seems to favor relatively small (by NFL standards), mobile blockers... this seems to be similar to Parcells' philosophy...
At the end of this season, the Bucs had 8 offensive linemen that had been brought in over the course of the last 2 seasons... those players average 6 feet 4 and a half inches tall, and about 305 pounds per man... those numbers are skewed a little by Derrick Deese, who goes 6-3, 290... take him out of the equation, and the average jumps to 6-5, 310 pounds...
Further, their starting offensive line averaged 6-4 and a half, 305 pounds... this is smallish...
Just a little food for thought... personally, I long for the glory days of the Cowboys, when their offensive line averaged over 320 pounds a man...
I like smash-mouth...
Smarter than the av-er-age bear...
