Default Dolphins Fire DC Pasqualoni

Dolphins fire defensive coordinator Paul Pasqualoni 1/11/2010 7:47:30 PM

Omar Kelly of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports the Miami Dolphins have fired defensive coordinator Paul Pasqualoni, beginning the process of assembling a new coaching staff on defense.

Pasqualoni served as the team's defensive coordinator for the past two seasons. His unit finished 22nd in total yards allowed (349.3), and tied for 25th in points allowed (24.4) this past season.

Those totals were major regressions from the 2008 season when the 11-5 Dolphins' defense was ranked 15th in total defense after allowing 329 yards per game, and finished ninth in points (19.8) per game.

Crennel has already agreed to join the Chiefs' staff.

But it could be Al Groh from Virginia.

He is a good coach.

I have to wonder if they wont promote bowles or go after zimmer.

Bowles has been talked about being a coordinator for almost 4 years now and players love him.

Crennel is too.

Report: Crennel to join Chiefs 1/11/2010 4:52:31 PM

Vinny DiTrani of the Bergen Record reports according to a league source, Romeo Crennel will be joining the coaching staff in Kansas City and not with the Giants. Crennel would be reunited with Charlie Weis and Scott Pioli in KC.

Here's a thing on Al Groh heading to Miami. He is interested.

Groh interested in Dolphins DC job 1/12/2010 8:55:22 AM

Tim Graham of ESPN reports Al Groh claimed he hasn't been contacted by the Miami Dolphins about their suddenly-vacant defensive coordinator's job, but he'd welcome the opportunity to work with old boss Bill Parcells again

"I've done it five times," Groh told me Monday night by phone. "Some people would say that I'm nuts. Some people would say that I'm fortunate. So, having done it five times already, yeah, obviously, there's a track record there.

"I have a few things on the table right now that I'm interested in, and that might be one more to put on there."

Groh said he has learned the Dolphins had fired defensive coordinator Paul Pasqualoni about a half hour before I called him Monday night. Groh's name immediately comes to mind as a replacement because of his relationship with Parcells, the Dolphins' vice president of football operations.

Bowles deserves it. That secondary played fairly well considering it was starting two rookies for the most part.

Jeez, the Chiefs are to the Patriots what the Dolphins are to Dallas.

I forgot about Zimmer. Wouldn't break my heart if he went there instead of the Skins.

Oops, never mind. Just saw Hos' thread about Zimmer staying in Cincy. Good on Cincy for paying up to keep him.

Guess Pasqualoni wasnt the genius some said. Boy are we rueing that one.

Zimmer will never coach a 3-4 defense again, you can take that to the bank. I also doubt he'd ever want to work under Parcells again, there was alot of talk that they had quite a strained relationship here.

And Zimmer just re-upped with Cinci today as well.

A new era begins

I was hoping he'd end up in Washington. Would love to face a defense that gets no pass rush and forces very few turnovers against our offense twice a year.

why would we rue?

I would like to see one person who called him a "genius" which must have happened if you said it.

I think and I am pretty sure many think he is a good coach, he did a good job for us. As did most of that staff.

he will land on his feet like all good coaches do.

and uh yea, I wont be holding my breath on you providing myself or anyone else with a link to any of us calling pasqualoni a genius.
