Default Mayock, Virginia CB/S Chris Cook reported to his Pro Day last Thursday out of shape

Chris Cook-DB- Player Mar. 22 - 7:06 pm et

According to NFL Network's Mike Mayock, Virginia CB/S Chris Cook reported to his Pro Day last Thursday out of shape.

Cook "got winded" during position drills. Last week, SI's Tony Pauline reported that Cook "looked uninspired" during the workout, and "coaches had to coax Cook to pick up the tempo." Cook was highly impressive at both the Senior Bowl and Combine, so we'd still think he'll be drafted on day two.

i know we were interested in him at being a safety instead of cb, so maybe he will drop some

How can a player be so out of shape less than one month after the combine that he gets "winded?"

Getting this guy on day two would be a very good scenario.

Anyone can get exercise induced asthma even if its not a chronic condition. That's one explanation. Allergic asthma is another. Maybe he has undiagnosed chronic mild asthma which has been relatively subclinical until now. I doubt he lost his conditioning. He probably was just sick and toughed it out.
Did you know there are only 5000 Snow Leopards in the wild now and they are confined to Central Asia? However, the effective global population (those likely to reproduce) is less than half that number.

Report: Chris Cook showed up to Pro Day out of shape
Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on March 22, 2010 8:00 PM ET
Virginia cornerback Chris Cook did not impress his potential future employers at the big job interview known as a Pro Day.

NFL Network's Mike Mayock said on NFL Total Access that Cook "got winded" during position drills, which is a red flag. SI's Tony Pauline wrote last week that coaches had to "coax Cook to pick up the tempo."

Cook is a terrific size/speed combination and he was one of the standouts at the Scouting Combine with a 4.46 and the best broad jump at his position. He's usually been projected as a second-round pick.

If anything, Cook's big combine numbers make Cook's pro day performance look worse.

Either Cook didn't take his pro day seriously or he wasn't ever truly in good shape to begin with.
