Anthony Davis
I second guess Davis because of his intangibles and work ethic, and also commitment. What do you guys think if he fell to our pick would you take a chance on him.

I think it really just depends on how the staff feels about him. He hasn't done himself any favors this offseason, and if the Cowboys have questions about his work ethic, I would hope they pass. I mean, Flo was never accused of having great passion for the game, but he always came to work.

Yes, I would.
He probably has more natural gifts than any other OT in the draft including Okung. When he flashes, he's absolute dominant and no one can get around him (including speed rushers). He's also a nasty fellow and fits in perfectly with our type of smash-mouth play. Watch some tape on him and you'll wonder why he's not a top five pick.
Being drafted low might be just what he needs to get his head on straight - he has issues following directions and generally being lazy. Losing millions of dollars because of this might be the wakeup call that this is his one chance in life to make it big and there won't be second helpings (which is something he's also been knocked for).
He's only 21 years old so I think he'll mature a bit, but he'll either be an All-Pro or an All-Schmoe.

I interned w/ the Rutgers Strength and Conditioning staff a little over a year ago and I would have to take a chance on him. He doesn't have a great personality, but he is so explosive and athletic on the football field. He may not bench 225 30 times or run a good 40 time, but when you put in the tape, he is a dominant player.
I had an opportunity to work w/ AD one one one on a few occasions, and it was difficult at times to get him to finish the workout. He's the kind of player that relies heavily on their natural, athletic ability.

Knowing AD for over a year, I do know that football is important to him and he loves it. He definitely does.

If Davis is there at 27 of course you have to consider taking him... He'd be the future LT for sure.

yup, no thanks. What typically happens is that these players get by at the college ranks on athletic ability alone and then get to the NFL where everyone is athletic and the development stages grow, teams get impatient and the players start to pick up bad technique and habits in a effort to compensate.
A true lazy player rarely changes and if they do it's often so far down the line that the teams that drafted them never get to see it.

At 27? Yeah, I'd probably draft him.
I keep hearing "questions about his work ethic", but no one actually ever gives examples. Maybe if I had more info I could actually say one way or the other for sure.
We need wins, and that's all we need. I don't give a damn about anyone on this roster over wins. I'd trade Ware, Lee and Dez if it meant more wins.

Which is it? Is he a bit lazy or does he really think football is important?

Both. I'm not sure AD has the mental capacity to WANT to get better. Honestly, he really doesn't fit the current mindset of the Cowboys, of always wanting to improve and get better (we know Romo says it all the time). On the other hand, the same questions were asked about Flozell Adams and he turned out to be a pretty good player. No, Flozell isn't a HOFer but he was a pretty dang good tackle for over ten years.
So AD is one of those "hit or miss" players. He either turns out to be your left tackle for ten years like Flozell or he is a complete bust. There's no in between for AD.
When I say that football is important to him, I should have said that he cares about the game and loves to play the game, but I'm not sure he has the drive and mentality to want to get better as a football player, rather than relying on the natural, athletic ability, which is very impressive might I add.
