GREAT IDEA. We should individually e-mail them, get their excuse and then post them on this board, ridicule them and show the world how flawed the system really is and kick these suckers off the committee.

We need to set up an email list and forward them all our complaints EVERY day for a year til Irvin goes in next year.

How pathetic that they didnt get the 80%.
But I still don't know what any team saw Thursday night that would have made them comfortable with waiting a round or two for the offensive lineman they wanted. ---Todd McShay
We just converted half our LB to DL. We have a 30m starting DL, it better be pretty friggin good.

Too bad we don't know how each voted. They should have the ball show their votes.

Like I said in a previous thread, why are these clowns voting for athletes to make the Hall of Fame? They should have former football people voting not these fools.
Is there any reward for good other than good?

I tore woody a new one, i made fun of him, as well as espn in general. I doubt he responds because the attacks on him are pretty bad, but again he might because they are so bad.

Default My Letter to the HOF

I will post any responses I get.

Gentlemen:

Last year I wrote to the NFL Hall of Fame voters over what I felt was an obvious anti-Cowboys bias. Several of you responded and I sincerely appreciated it, even though some of the answers I got were rather rude, despite the fact that I was polite in my letter of concern.

One of the responses was rather terse and abrupt. "There's only 1 Denver Bronco, John Elway this year. What bias? Enough said."

I have no idea what that has to do with voting in worthy players. I have struggled for the past year to think of worthy Broncos players whose cause I could champion. You see, I do think other team's players are getting screwed. For example, Harry Carson and Art Monk. Them not being in the Hall of Fame is foolish. You should all be ashamed.

Let me tell you something even more foolish though. One of the people on this list replied to me in what I consider to be a totally reprehensible manner about one of those 2 players. He basically said that Harry Carson is his litmus test for who is Hall of Fame worthy. If he did not think a player was better than Carson he would vote no until Carson was elected. I sent his e-mail to the Hall of Fame. His Don Quixote stance is insulting. Not only that, it is 100% wrong. No one should behave like that and keep his voting privileges. Voting for the Hall of Fame should not be about your personal agendas. It should be about honoring the sacrifice of the players up for induction.

Without a doubt the most reprehensible response last year was not sent to me but to a dear friend of mine. One of you on this esteemed list actually invited him to come to his home town and fight. By the way, the person this invitation was issued to is a decorated officer in the United States Navy on board an aircraft carrier. I find this voters actions to be beyond insulting. This "invitation" was also sent to the Hall of Fame.

I can't help but wonder about the responses I'll get this year. One response that won't wash is the "what bias" one. From 6 to 4 inductees 2 years in a row and 3 of the final rejected candidates are former Cowboys. You've got to be kidding me.

Speaking of kidding me, is the Hall of Fame a QB only club? I respect Steve Young, and think he earned the Hall Of Fame but as a 1st ballot inductee when Michael Irvin is not? No way, no shape, no how. 3 Super Bowl rings trumps 1 every day of the week.

Gentlemen, Michael Irvin was the spark plug of the last NFL dynasty. Those of you who voted "no" should hang your heads in shame for not realizing his value to that squad. If you voted "no" your knowledge of football and players who matter is nill.

Please spare me the "character issues" nonsense. Where was this pious stance when Lawrence Taylor was up for election? You are members of the media and are not aware of the drug rumors that surrounded Marino in college and for part of his pro career? If your stance is "character" and you did not vote "no" for those 2 players as well, then you are simply biased against the Cowboys. No ifs and or buts about it.

I still can't fathom how the team that is one of the most successful franchises in sports History is so hated that its best players are disrespected at every turn. Deacon Jones himself lauded Rayfield Wright as the only player he ever feared facing and you voted him out last year. Then today you voted in 2 guys whom no one has ever heard of?

Congratulations, legions of fans will go past those plaques and remember them fondly. I do not mean to disrespect those two inductees in any way, but you gentlemen obviously did intend to disrespect Rayfield Wright and Bob Hayes. It is beyond obvious. People like me and my fellow fans can still remember how they impacted our lives and love of the game. That is what the Hall of Fame is supposed to be about.

I shouldn't let it shock me any more after it took Mel Renfro 19 years to be honored despite 10 All Pro seasons in 14 years, but I admit, it still shocks me. I often wonder if you gentlemen are completely unaware of NFL History.
For your information, the Dallas Cowboys played in 5 Super Bowls in the 1970's and had many players who were among the best ever to play the game. That includes some of the men you have disrespected for years. You would think that only the Steelers had good players in that era. I have nothing against them or their players. My complaints have nothing whatsoever to do with players getting in. This is about your bias. Plain and simple. It is galling.

I hope some of you will respond. I hope more of you will look inward and end your vendettas. This snub was insulting. Like I said, I should be used to it by now, but I am not. Every year it stings a little more.

Respectfully,

Hostile.

Respectfully,

I think that letters like that do more harm than good.

Although your letter is well written, and sincere. If there truly is a Cowboys bias, then these people are currently getting a good laugh at yours, and all the other letters of discontent.

I believe that the letter writing campaign should begin right now for next years selection process. Pepper them with 3 things...

Kindness

Respect

Factual logic

These guys in the selection commitee feel a sense of power. In that they can exclude whomever they want, for whatever reason they want. But if we as fans treat them with the respect that they feel that they deserve, they will be more inclined to side with our views.

I could care less if they laugh. A silent voice is never heard. If others want to sit on their hands or just gripe without doing anything else that is their business.
