Default An idea to possibly increase board involvement?

Hey mods, just a quick idea that I had that could possibly help people post more often...

I'm sure the majority of us have facebook. Well, they have a "notification" tab that pops up and is highlighted in red whenever people leave comments, friend requests, etc.

I think it would be great if we could implement that here. Whenever someone quotes a post you had, a notification tab will be highlighted letting you know someone is directly responding to a post you made, that way you dont have to dig through threads to see everyone's responses to your posts.

Just an idea.

very good idea.

I like this idea a lot
Leadership is getting someone to do what they don't want to do, to achieve what they want to achieve.

I don't.

And I don't know if that is possible.

This is a team who is battling several major injuries to
key players including Pro Bowl talents like Lee, Austin, Jenkins, Murray,
Carter and Ratliff. Other key starters missing include Costa, Smith, Church and
Coleman. That is 11 key players - that's half the starting lineup. Yet we still went 8-8.

I'm not sure about friend's request but a lot of the other stuff you mention should already be built into the software or not that difficult to add.

You can already subscribe to threads that you want to watch by using the thread tools.

As far as getting notifications when someone replies to your post, I am pretty sure that is a feature most PHP based boards have, the site administrator(s) just have to turn that feature on. On all the technical boards I visit (ASP.Net, VBForums.com, SQL Team, JDEList, Experts-Exchange etc etc), you automatically get an email when someone replies to your post.

Also, a lot of PHP boards have options to where you can subscribe to posts in each Section via RSS feed but I think you have to turn that on or install that feature.

Well you're in the minority then!

One of my buddies write web code, I'll see if he knows how to do it or if it's possible. I didn't think it'd be that hard to implement, maybe just with a CSS tweak or something.

If its not possible thats fine, it was just an idea.

I like the idea. PM Reality and add a poll to this thread to find out who's on board.

A poll has been added, but it doesn't matter how many people want it. It's whether or not it can actually be implemented. We're not sure if it can.

Hahaha I think he was using some word play, meaning "find out who's alright with the idea"

Yeah I'm not trying to imply that we need more activity or that its slow.

I'm just saying it'd be easier to see when people respond to your posts, and perhaps that would make people post more often.

But I wasnt implying that we need people to post more or anything.
